He looks like he is having a great time in Detroit, say what you will about Ottawa vs Detroit, the trade, his effort level, etc. He is smiling ear to ear and producing, its early but thats about the best thing a Detroit fan can ask for.

Detroit may finally have a top line for the first time in almost 10 years.

Peak Bertuzzi-Larkin-Mantha was a great first line but Bertuzzi was often injured or Mantha just decided to disappear. In term of talent, it was absolutely a top line, just not consistent. Let's hope this current first line can play a full season like this.

And should I be? I'd appreciate an honest answer from you, a fellow fan of an NHL team. Should I be happy with how the DeBrincat experiment ended up in Ottawa? Yes our management deserves a lot of the blame and I hope they're held accountable by our new owner/POHO. But Alex deserves his share of the blame as well. Sorry for him that Chicago 'unexpectedly' traded him to a city/team he didn't want to go. That doesn't excuse the effort he put in last season especially when he
Didn't he play with Pinto and Batherson for the most part? He still put up 66 pts. This whole he didn't care bs is blown way out of proportion.

He's one point behind Klingberg and his +8 is 4 times better than anyone on the Leafs.
Not sure what this has to do with Klingberg? Just remarking that Holl getting 3 assists is more surprising than DeBrincat getting 3 goals. Looked it up and this is actually his 2nd career 3 pt game. The other was that crazy game vs Detroit 2 seasons ago.

Exactly. People are acting like he was out on a public skate on most nights. He put up 66 points in the NHL. You must be pretty damn good if you're being accused of dogging it all year, yet are still capable of putting up 66 points.

6pts in 9 games in one single run.. when he was a 45pt player… when he was 21 years old.

How can you be labeled a “regular season player” when he’s only had one single run in the post season?

That tiny kid Marchessault did alright last post season, if you were watching.
how can you not be labeled a regular season preformed when you can’t make the playoffs???? Jeff Skinner, noted potential playoff preformed BTW!!!

Putting up a .66 points per game is being alluded to as a good run? You good over there in New Brunswick?

That doesn't excuse the effort he put in last season especially when he was welcomed into the organization with open arms and much fan-fare. If you know in the back of your mind that you're not going to stay, fine - at least put in an honest effort while you're there.

Is that asking too much?
He openly admitted he wasn't good enough, that he desired to work harder, to do better. That was literally what he said. All of the "I phoned it in, didn't try at all" nonsense was made up by bitter Sens fans. What do I owe you really as far as an honest answer? I am very happy with how he is playing. If 27 goals and 66 points is his lowest point, then yes, as a Wings fan I am very content at how this is all playing out. What "honest effort" do you need from me? What are you even asking for, do you even know?

I'm not sure why Wings fan are so insecure about DeBrincat being booed in Ottawa. It reminds me of when Tavares got a standing ovation in Toronto after his first game back in Long Island.

He was a depth player in Ottawa. He's clearly a better fit in Detroit, on and off the ice. Can't they just be happy about that?

a depth player lol. Dude had what was obviously a fluke down year with the goal scoring….and still put up 66 pts I believe. He was due to bounce back and break out, regardless of where he plays. Sens are foolish to think he’s some kind of lesser tier/2nd liner.

Tkachuk is better, so on Ottawa, he's a 2nd liner.

He said it himself lmao
No he didn't, but even if he DID say that, which he didn't, do you think that matters whatsoever to us Wings fans who are watching him lead the league in scoring currently? Personally I love that he is, I also love the misinformed bitterness from the butthurt fans because he didn't want to stay with your team.

It's honestly not so much the point totals or missed chances. 66 points with an honest effort would have been ok. The overall body language and nonchalant attitude toward some of the muffins he served up (especially in the first half of the season) was an absolute slap in the face as a fan. You could tell the guy just didn't give a shit - and that was confirmed over the course of the summer.

One was a UFA nearly the end of his career while the other...
...was honest and transparent with the team telling them he had no interest in signing into his UFA years, and would have fulfilled his obligations as an RFA to take a one year deal in arbitration per the CBA. Would you have preferred what Tavares did where he led on the Isles all season then left anyways?

It's very simple and there's really no need to galaxy brain it.

All this hate over body language? Really?

Without me by eminem is a perfect goal song. Is that new in the D?
I am already sick of it.

Oh, believe me, we are VERY happy.

0.66pts per game when you scored 45pts in the regular season is good yes.

So basically anyone who hasn’t made the playoffs is nothing more than a “regular season performer” then? You do know it’s a team game and he’s played on terrible teams right? He’s supposed to single handedly bring Ottawa and THAT Chicago team to the playoffs

You already lost this conversation when you said he’s not good in the playoffs because “small guys are bad in the playoffs”… ignoring that the recent Conn Smythe winner is a whopping 5’9.

Did he have a down year for his standards? Sure. What player doesn't. To say he was mailing it in is a little much.
Sure, but his body language suggested that he did not in fact care a whole lot, and was not giving it his all, and by his own admission he needed to work harder.

lmao, so thousands of posts and threads from the summer til now... because of the way you are interpreting his BODY LANGUAGE? Do you realize how insane that sounds? It's ****ing hilarious and pathetic.

All those young elite players on the Sens are by their definition worse playoffs performers than Cat.
