But that seems almost entirely down to personality and him not wanting to show up and play for Ottawa, not a lack of opportunity or surrounding talent. So, while I agree that moving him was the only move, I’d still be annoyed. It’s great he’s such a good player when motivated. It’s annoying he would be that selective about who he tries for.

Good call.

Tangentially, I feel similarly about leadership and RoR and P Kane. Can’t deny their role in whatever worked to win cups, but I wouldn’t necessarily trust em to head other situations, and with RoR we have evidence of it becoming frustration in Buffalo.

Without me by eminem is a perfect goal song. Is that new in the D?
Its new this year. Its the right amount of obnoxious, lively and made by a Detroit artist so it fits really good. Cant believe they havent used it sooner
Detroits goal horn sounds different they must have changed it

Sounds like Panthers horn
Yep. They were using a recording of the Joe Louis goal horn at little caesars because the actual horn from the Joe wasnt allowed. It was gas fired and grand fathered in to the Joe but wasnt allowed to be brought with them. Not sure what changed but they got a real goal horn again this year and it sounds wayyyyy better

There's literally no truth to the rumor he was unmotivated, I actually can't believe there's still people putting this out there.

He had a down year (27 goals and 66 points, still pretty damn good... so yikes, I guess?) which literally every player has. Did Ovechkin give up on his team and not try in 2016? Is that how you see it? Or was it just a down year when things didn't click?

People reading into his comments where he claimed he wished he worked harder as "I gave up on my team" is actually the dumbest possible take I read on here, and I read it daily. "I had a down year and need to work harder" as "I hate my team and I didn't try at all", surely you can see the difference there.... the words people are putting in his mouth, which he never said, are ridiculous. This is worthy of shaming people for claiming this, imo.

Oh please, he got traded to Canada and acted like a bitch about it. He's a selfish POS and deserves every bit of hate he gets.

8 goals, 12 points, game 6 still in progress. If I were an Ottawa fan I’d be peeved, to be honest.
then just take a look at Stutzle, Tkachuk, Sanderson, and Chychrun and remember you still have an amazing young core who wants to be there and forget those who didn't.

Its the harsh reality, but players are humans and if someone is that set against playing somewhere you are just wasting your time

He was never going to be “the guy” in Ottawa, that team belongs to Stutzle and Tkachuk and as home grown stars they were going to get all the prime opportunities over DeBrincat. Surely he realized that and knew his potential was going to be capped as a secondary option.

Now he gets to be “the guy” (or co-guy alongside Larkin) and will be put in every position to succeed and produce. No more wondering from week to week if he’ll be on the 1st or 2nd PP or who his center and winger will be. The Wings are giving him the keys to the offense and he seems to be making good use of it so far.

and if someone takes millions of dollars to sulk becasue they can't stand one year playing somewhere and craters the trade market for themselves then they are a sack of shit.

Giroux wants to come home to play for the Sens: "oh how classy, it's awesome for the city, the team, and the league, you really love to see it!"

DeBrincat wants to come home to play for the Wings: "**** him, classless piece of **** HOW DARE HE NOT WANT TO LIVE IN RENFREW!"

so players have a moral obligation to be willing to re-sign with their current team long term even if they were traded to it?

want someone to blame for the DeBrincat situation? it's Ottawa's GM for not bothering to find out if he actually wanted to be there before trading for him instead of afterwards

You mean thanks DeBrincat? Not like Pierre was really given much of a choice.
All Debrincat never told them was that he wouldn't sign long term. He never said he wouldn't re-sign, he never asked for a trade. This is all information this is readily available on the same internet you are using right now.

We can only hope some of you get rid of your bitterness by the end of October.

It's a long season.

Bro, it's just getting sad at this point. Take the 'W', enjoy the player - but it's time to move on.

As the old saying says, 'its better to never meet your heros'

Sure, because he was arbitration eligible. Of course the Sens could have kept him for this year. Alex made his intentions clear and Dorion was not left with much of a choice.
