As an Ottawa fan - this is 100% correct. Up until Andlauer bought the team, this was a mickey mouse organization: bare bones front office, cheap low-end coaching, non-existent pro-scouting, and I'm guessing very sparse training and high-performance support for players. The team often didn't put players in a position to succeed, and when a team consistently fails to get the most out of skilled players, that's a team problem. We've frequently seen skilled guys leave, and thrive, and then fans talk about how "they never would have done this in Ottawa": Zibanejad, Gustavsson, apparently now DeBrincat.Imagine looking at DeBrincat's linemates and deployment in Ottawa, and being mad he didn't want to be there, and only put up 27 goals and 66 points. His talent was wasted there. He's a #1 LW, and a top 10 goal scorer in the NHL. He should be playing with your best players, and on the top PP. Be mad at your team for not utilizing him properly.
Good organizations get the most from their players. Bad organizations don't. Ottawa has been a bad organization for a long time.
