I feel so sorry for the Canucks fans. They overrated the value of Halak asking a 1st or a 2nd.
In 2014 he was traded for a 4th round pick. Seven years later he never worth more.
For Miller he was traded for 1st round pick a 3rd round pick and a low prospect.
So the proposal right now should be a 6 round pick for Halak
For Miller :2023 1st, Bowers and cap dump players
If it cost more Sakic need to find another team to deal

Can the avs even take on a cap dump with their current cap?

The Avs don't even have a 1st this season so I don't think a 2023 1st would be that tantalizing to the Canucks. This would be another late 1st rounder and take 2 or 3 seasons before if/when he even makes the NHL.

Ya it would, that is the Bedard draft. Not saying a Colorado 1st is going to be a lotto pick but the new GM could pull a Brian Burke to try trade for #1 or a potential lottery 1st in another deal...highly unlikely tho!

Newhook is a dealbreaker. Newhook in a deal for Hertl is one thing. But not Miller.

So 28 year old Hertl who is a pending UFA your willing to trade Newhook for him but 28 yr old JT Miller with another year on his contract is NOT worth Newhook??? Seems pretty odd to me

Not gonna happen. I wouldn't trade Newhook for Miller. I would possibly trade him for Hertl, however.

So it looks like you can hold on to him and squeeze him tight.

Hertl and Miller are the same age, Miller has an extra year on his deal tho at a slightly lower cap hit as well, but okay

Only an idiot values Halak for a 1st or 2nd. I mean Colorado overpaid to get the overrated Kuempfer and that seems to have back fired so far this year. Halak could be had for a mid round pick, but thanks to the old GM he gave an aging G a FULL NMC for some idiotic reason!

So your basis for the trade value of a player is what they traded for a few years ago? Has it occurred to you that the value of a player can change, depending on how they actual perform after the previous trade?

Going by your "logic", I guess Devon Toews is still only worth 2 seconds despite making a case as a dark-horse Norris candidate?

Would be nice if you apply some semblance of logic and evaluate a player's current trade value by his current performance, not what he received years ago..

Miller is worth a lot more than what you proposed.

As for Halak, I agree that some fans are overvaluing him. He's worth a 3rd/4th at best.

Really don’t think you know how to value players and read the market, not every player is a depreciated value
Supply and demand is the goalie market and I can’t speak to what Halaks worth is but it most certainly isn’t a 6th round pick
2nd-3rd likely

Newhook for a couple months of Hertl is a stupid deal

Yea...I don't get this take at all. First of all, Newhook shouldn't be included in any deal unless it's basically a more developed version of Newhook on a long-term contract. Second, why does an upcoming UFA Hertl make sense, but Miller signed for an additional year not make sense? I would love to hear the mental gymnastics required to justify that take.

Isn't Dater the dude who got shitfaced and asked Mackinnon if "he should just say f*** it and stop thinking?"

Yea, he's also the guy that always has an excuse for missing a scoop, one of my favourite being "I was stuck in an elevator". He also used to post on HFAvs, until posters called him out on his tendency to just make stuff up.

Dater is also the easiest example of why Makar is a saint. Dater will ask an ass-backwards question that makes no sense, and Makar will answer it as if someone intelligent asked him a worthwhile question.

Miller is a player who can play any of the 3 forward positions seamlessly, has been a PPG player since joining the Canucks, is good defensively, plays both the PP + PK, he’s the grit + grind type of forward most teams looking to make deep cup runs want, and is locked up for the rest of this season + next on a sweetheart deal of 5 million. Some of these offers make it clear that a lot of people haven’t watched JT Miller in the past 3 years (makes sense considering how ass we’ve been), but a lot of these offers just straight up ain’t enough.

Isn't Miller below average 5 on 5?

I don't think Dater even has credentials anymore. He's throwing shit out there that sounds plausible.

Dater does not have creds, the team suspended him, so did the PHWA. His only sources are agents that he pesters. He does not have any credibility and has not had any for a long time. He’s a hack and nothing more than a blogger with no access to the team.

How has Kuemper really backfired? Or, more to the point, what's the actual impact of Kuemper struggling a bit? The Avs have won .804% of their games since November 1 when the team started getting healthy, and Kuemper is 13-2-1 in that time with a 0.910 SV%. Seems like he's doing enough for the team to win, which is all that really matters.

LOL yup... Despite what Avs fans will tell you, Adrian is the key to our organization. Not MacKinnon, not Landy and definitely not Makar. Dater's Airbnb stories are the difference between us winning or losing.

...and he drives for Lyft.

Gave up a lot for him and is Colorado not wanting to add a Goalie? Or has that subsided now and they think they can win the cup?
