Needs moar Sami Salo.

Not sure if you meant this as sarcasm either. Sami Salo is an absolute perfect comparison to Larsson. Similar playing styles. Big mobile defenseman who is good at both ends of the rink. If Salo wasn't made of glass, he would be much more respected. He's still is Vancouver's best all around defenseman.

One sophomore slump indicates that MDZ is a bust?

Please do not lump him in with this discussion about Adam Larsson, and Del Zotto has played very well this year. Logging up 23+ mins consistently while being a presence on the powerplay and starting odd man rushes. He will likely be a top pairing defenseman in his prime if he continues to develop well.

If this post is meant to degrade MDZ, wrong player to choose since he's also gonna be a great player.

Like I said. Adam Larsson. The next Michael Del Taco.

He is so good with making those passes when pressure is coming to the guy next to him and away from the pressure. Occasionally a bad outlet pass comes off his stick but I'm hoping he learns to pick those a little better once he hit 20. Still, amazing dman.

Yep, he does so many of the little things right. I love watching him neutralise a dangerous rush coming at him by riding the forward off to the boards. His positioning is almost always excellent.

I look forward to seeing him improve even further.

i don't remember the point of the game that was in but i remember that play happening. so you're not seeing things lol i'm just backing you up. it was one of those things that i saw but didn't really believe it actually happened. just an insane play.

Thanks. I'm glad someone else saw it to confirm I wasn't actually seeing things. I was starting to wonder

Larsson had a bit of a rough game last night, but I loved the opportunity to see him live again.

I certainly didn't see it that way. Though he did have two or three mistakes which were quite obvious. Other then that I thought he had a real strong game. He played physical, made some excellent outlet passes and strong board play.

The passing turnovers were ghastly, but didn't burn us. I did like his defending on the rush against their fast wingers. He neutralised at least two rushes by riding the forward to the boards and eliminating the possibility of a pass. The shorthanded goal wasn't his fault.

RG mentioned that he was chasing a little on the second goal against, he'll have to learn to hold his position better.

He wasn't as crisp as usual with his passing or shooting, it seemed like he fanned on the puck several times, but that may have been the poor ice quality, because many players were doing the same.

Can't see how the shorthanded goal would be on him at all. He made the right play and took away the pass and let Marty get a chance to make the save which he didn't.

His positional play has wavered a little bit from game to game, that we can agree on. Thought it was pretty good last night, but I missed their tieing goal so I can't say much about that.

Passing was fine except for the 2-3 turnovers he had, which were pretty bad. Made 2 nice slapshot passes aswell, showed some speed that I haven't seen before either, rushing the puck up to the red to dump the puck in. Shooting was a little off though as you say, but we've seen that he's capable of putting hard accurate shots on net before, so it could of been the ice this time around.

He had one REALLY awful turnover towards the beginning of the game. Made a soft breakout pass right to the tape of a Carolina player entering the slot. That one scared me. But he tightened up after that.

I PVRed the game last night and I didn't think Larsson was that bad. Despite the turnover, he does seem very poised and confident, which is essential to become a superstar defenseman.

I'm not disappointed by his offensive production, because I wasn't really expecting much. He didn't put up huge offensive numbers in the SEL, so it's unreasonable to expect him to put up points as an 18 year-old in a better league. He is playing sound defensive hockey, which is the best thing for his confidence right now. Cam Fowler put up decent offensive numbers last year but was an eye-sore defensively. There are people here who thought Larsson would put up 40 points this year. Come on now.

I said it before, and I still think so now, I'd be pleased with a 15-25 point season from Larsson this year.

if the devils make the playoffs with him averaging 20 min a night at least it will be a sign of good things to come.. point totals or not. they will start to go in eventually when he settles in
