C'mon, give Couts credit, he made a DEEP Flyers team. He would make this team in a heartbeat. I might have been wrong about him.

PS: I actually like Larsson, just being facetious.

Couturier would've been our 2nd best choice IMO out of all the prospects who were rated in the top #10, outside of RNH, who was going #1 overall all along.

JLHockeynight might correct me, but he made the team because:

1) he is a perfect fit for the bottom6, shutdown centerman.
2) Schenn`s contract
3) seemed to have chemistry with another rookie, 25yo Matt Read.

As for his stats, the fact he made a very good (but also fairly young) team helps it a lot. That said I admit he`s been very good so far, on the PK and 5on5 as well, but let`s not make it look like he exceeded the expectations by a mile.

Dougie Hamilton does have a chance to become the best defenseman in the draft. He also wouldn't have been a bad pick.

Larsson was the only choice there. He's literally perfect for us.

And we're perfect for him too. Good group of Swedes, reputed as a defensive team, fantastic mentors, and closer than the average high picking team to returning to contention.

What you see may not always be what's right.

A lot of Rangers fans were obsessed with MDZ's rookie season. The truth is that, he was playing very average even strength and rode a hot powerplay in the beginning of the year to stat pad. He didn't have a great rookie year as indicated, but a ton of us fans were too biased to admit it.

Myers won the rookie of the year, he became a #1 guy immediately on a playoff team. Pietrangelo had a dominant rookie year, his defensive was on par with the league's best towards the end of the year.

Larsson will probably get 20-25ish points, I doubt he's gonna have a better rookie year than the players mentioned above. Larsson won't contend with the rookie of the year award like the other two were, unless he gets on a hot point streak. There are also other rookies playing out of their mind right now, Nugent-Hopkins PPG player, Landeskog top 3 in shots, hits, Couturier is starting to heat up, etc.

Enstrom while it's a great accomplishment that he became 'the top defender in his division', it certainly is debatable. Mike Green also had a ton of points, playing in all situations for a playoff Capitals team. Other than that yeah, but who were the other elite defenders in the division,.... Frankstiek Kaberle?

MDZ put up good numbers but his play away from the puck is horrid. Larsson is a completely different animal.

I'll wait until he is playing in the NHL to really determine how good he will be. He may be tearing up the OHL right now, but that is completely different. We will see how he translates.

'Tis true.

Defenseman take a while to develop either way, it will take a few years to determine who the best of the pack will be. Some players just take longer to develop than others. Larsson was after all deemed the most NHL-ready prospect anyways.

when did i say it was? all i said is that he was the best i had seen since enstrom. i didn't say that actually meant anything. just my opinion.

I think he plays a lot more physical than people thought. The only problem is it causes him to get caught going for the hit. He will eventually learn better timing and when to hit or not to.
