A win is a Win: Not really, but we'll take it 3-2

05 - 06?... First place in the conference in mid Jan 06, and then miss the playoffs?

Voynov DV, Career 1st line center and former captain sent to the minors, Team that can't hold a lead after proving the exact opposite the previous 3 seasons, Guy who was sitting on his couch eating cheesy poofs at the start of the season is in our defense as we go on an 8 game win streak...

Yeah, this is weirder.

I have been watching just fine but again, I said he's been coming around, look at his last 10 games. Tonight was the exception rather than the rule. People have been all over him all year and have given him no props for doing so damn well during the win streak and then some. Then he comes out and struggles a bit tonight and we're right back to executing him. It's silly. At least acknowledge that he's been very strong lately.

The team in front of him has played better; but, sorry he just isn't playing anywhere near his best or good enough to carry a leaky defense.

Oh lord, sorry guys, I'm on the main board, thought I was on the Kings board.

Quick plays bad, his fault. Quick plays good, team bailed him out. Forget the Avs game?

Quick always struggles when he faces very few shots. Maybe he needs a little pressure to keep his head in the game.
9 shots in two periods his mind wanders

That's been Quick's weakness his whole career. Not a lot of shots=softies.

Lots of shots=Beast mode 2012.

Quick has been average most of the year with some stinkers here and there. He's been better recently with flashes of brilliance. Tonight was not one of his better games in his last recent stretch of play. Like people say: When its too much athlete and not enough goalie Quick will have a bad night! Remember, playing through injuries the last two cup seasons limited his athletic ability. The goalie Quick had to be in peak form.

40+ goalies have a better save percentage over the season and you want to argue about 1 game? Please.

I was using it as an example of the team playing badly on defense and Quick bailing them out as that was your accusation. Could go back to the beginning of the year and pull the WIld and Blues games out too.

He's certainly inconsistent and has had a roller coaster year, and tonight wasn't his finest effort, but over the last stretch he has been that guy as evidenced in both the eye test and the numbers that you seem overly reliant on.

The problem is the Kings keep limiting opponents to low-shot, high event hockey. 20ish shots on goal with deadly opportunities.

As long as Quick makes his career average numbers; 35+ wins 918. SV% I don't care how he gets there.

He is close, if he makes those markers, it means the Kings made the playoffs.

I'm just glad this didn't turn out like the ducks game after those two missed breakaways. I had a sinking feeling after that then especially after we went down 3-2.

HOPing we show up big for the Penguins game, I feel like we always play like crap against them.

****ing Montreal man.

They are WAAAAYYY too patient with the puck to win many playoff games that way.

I mean I get it: patience pays off. But you gotta pull the trigger more often. Kings have the same issue, but MTL eclipses them in this category.

An Olympian, two time Stanley Cup champion, Vezina candidate, Conn Smythe winner is not hard to imagine being good in shootouts.

Coming into this game, our two leading scorers, Carter and Kopitar, were a combined 1 for 14 in shootouts this season. Hard to blame Quick too much when you consider that stat.

What do these all have in common? No shootouts! Come on man, that's almost as bad a cup counting logic.

Can somebody answer me this; If anytime the puck can be played off the referee (as they are part of the ice surface) why can't the team on defense (that didn't use the ref as an obstruction) bowl the ref over as they are basically a build up of snow (part of the ice surface)?

Or am I just comprehending the rules wrong?

Just don't agree at all. He got off to a great start to the season and has been mediocre to bad with an occasional good performance. His save % continues to circle the drain. Go ahead, have the last word.

I guess he didn't do **** during that eight-game winning streak, either.

Over the last 15 games Quick's Sv% has actually trended up.

Yep, like I said elsewhere, Kings are kings of 5v5. That's why we win out.

They have Price back there and just play possum the whole game till they can pop in an opportunity. It seems foolhardy but it obviously works for them, shrug. I want to agree though. It's the same thing with Calgary's play-not-to-lose shells.

If you attack a referee you are looking at double digits in game suspensions.

Next question.

Sure thing. You're wrong. That's not an opinion.

He's trending up, even in save percentage, and has had many more good performances than bad lately. Sorry, that's just fact, grounded in the numbers you're using as evidence.

Other than tonight, I'd say he's looked much more confident and in control and has been seeing the puck better since the start of the 8 game winning streak.

But he did start off hot then tank hard midseason. You're just not giving him any credit for a recovery.

MTL reminds me of the 2012 PHX Coyotes. They got Vezina goalie play out of Smith, Defense was ok, but not good. They could score on the counter attack at will it seemed like.

MTL looks the same.
