Fair enough, sorry I must have just seen a a few of your negative posts in a row and misconstrued things: apologies, carry on!![]()
Swedes actually got a pt for taking it to OT, so they finished with 5 pts to top the group...BUT T NA pressures them in the third , knowing they need to win in regulation, and if they do...
Swedes finish behind NA in tie breaker and have to hope for a fortuitous result 2morrow

Would it really matter though? Sweden won against both Finland and Russia, shouldn't that be enough to win against any of them in a head-to-head race? Or is it the goals that count even then?
Hedman did not have a good game.
OEL continues to disappoint.
pulling the goalie is a low percentage play, and if the NA team lost in regulation then they'd be out of the tournament right now.
Lundqvist was brilliant in the third, and OT, and to me that's the story of how Sweden got through, not what team NA did or didn't do

Because that other team failed to take an OT point in its loss. How is that unfair? It's just like in the NHL.
Because the Olympics don't work that way.
So IIHF rules > NHL rules? I disagree.
Also, if you want to talk about unfair, how about Sweden playing two games in 24 hours while NA gets a full day's rest?
That wouldn't have changed anything, even if I agree with you (a team winning in OT/SO shouldn't get as many points as winning in regulation, especially when the loser gets 1 pt).Yeah, but that's the flaw in the tournament. Sweden tied the game and hogged the puck for the extra point. They should have done 3 point regulation wins.

Sweden would've ended with 7 points (3+3+1)
NA would have 5 points (3+2)
Russia would still have a chance to beat NA with a win (3+3). NA would win if Russia doesn't win in regulation though.
The Auston Matthews chants in OT were amazing. He's already a beloved figure in Toronto.
McDavid needs to work on his finish, he had glorious chances in this must-win game and couldn't put it away. He's faster and has better hands than a young Crosby but Crosby's finishing ability was much better.

Gotta love afternoon games on a week day.... At least was able to watch the 3rd/OT.
I bet people on the west coast missed the entire game.

Listening to MacKinnon, he didn't know they needed a regulation win. That tells me the coaches didn't know either. That's a big fail.
