A desperate finnish team bound to bounce back and they really tried their best but Sweden played a controlled game and won. The end.

Gotta say that i love Ristolainen, such a solid defenseman already. Can Buffalo trade him to Wild?

I don't know... how difficult is it to have 0 points in 2 games? Pretty sure Pulju could have done that. Maybe I'm wrong though, maybe Pulju would get -3 points in 2 games :sarcasm:.

Or, if Laine was playing for winnipeg in that rookie tournament, he might have scored 9+8 in two games :sarcasm: Who knows and it is pointless to speculate ;)

No kidding. It's ridiculous actually. Then add that some teams play back to backs and some don't. Why even have back to backs? Was it that difficult to add that extra day?

Every team plays back-to-backs. But only Sweden and Canada play their back-to-back against teams that have a full rest.

Other than the Daniel to Henrik to Stralman goal and a few chances for Laine... I thought this game was completely lackluster. It was a boring game. I was expecting more from this Scandinavian rivalry.

But we'd lose a two-way tie to NA, and they'd be the other one if we wreck Russia's GD.

In a threeway tie. Goal differential is the first tie breaker. For Finland to move ahead in the tournament this need to happen

#1 Sweden has to beat NA23. Let's say they win with 4-1, that makes NA at 2 points with -1 in goal differential.

#2 Russia must be beaten with 5 goals for Finland to advance in this specific scenario (or 4 if they score massive amount of goals)

Not likely, but still possible.

Next tournament they should skip group play alltogether , seed the teams based on salary caps, then play quarterfinals, best of three semis and then best of three final ...

It feels idiotic that if Sweden lose to N/A , we can not makes semis just because Finland has exactly nothing to play for and can lose by 5-0 or whatever ... and then we are out just because of that ...

Get over yourself, he has a point. And Pulju would just get demolished in a tournament like this, there's a reason why he couldn't even make this weak Finnish team.

Good Game by the Finns!

It s pity that the puck don t find the way in goal. Lunquist is a devil ;).
But now i am not angry about the performance by the Finns.
This was a good game!
Now i hoping that Sweden beat NA in regular time.

Yeah, I just saw someone passing a tie-breaking format where the top two of the three in even points would be rated according to the game they played against each other. But maybe that was only his personal suggestion then, and it's straight-out by the goal difference by the actual rules.
