The best defense in the world always has a sort of answer. This isn't some swedish league players, they are every single one of them some of the best of the NHL.
Not saying it will be a win, Canada should really crush us. But it is far fetched saying there isnt a single chance in the strange game of hockey.

Thanks for the lesson. Sweden's D totally outmatched Finland IMO.

That's a worse call, imo. The hit wasn't malicious, but I can understand calling 2 minutes when you connect with the head to that extent (although I would've been fine with no call). 2 minutes for getting jumped is one of my pet peeves. Komarov should've had more than 2, though, so I guess in a way it (almost) evens out.
A hit where the impact is the head is always a penalty, even in the NHL. Backlund didn't crouch, the hit was just too high. If the hit is in the chest, it's a clean hit.

And yes, it was weird Komarov only received 2 minutes. Taking someones legs out when they don't even have the puck is truly malicious, that could easily have been a serious knee injury on Hedman. A 2+2 or even a 5+20 wouldn't have been out of the picture, there was arguably intent to injure.

If we can beat Russia and Finland we can beat USA or Canada.

We adjust our way of playing depending on the opponents we are facing since we have tactical skills.

Our team consist of proven NHL professionals. No single doubt we will play more physical vs USA or Canada.

Sweden can never beat USA or Canada.

Russia is the only one with a slim chance, if the PP works and Bob plays the God like mode, the Canadians will get rattled and the Russian skill will take over.

Not true.

Sweden has no answer for the North American style and pressure.

You will see that vs NA team.

Sweden has never had 3 D-pairings as good as these.

Canada is significantly better than all other teams, but in just one game, Sweden can win.

In a 10 game series Canada probably wins 8. That's how crazy good they are. I'm not certain that a single Swedish forward would make their team. Perhaps Bäckström, but he hasn't looked great so far..

It's actually not, to my knowledge. And his head was unfortunately around (his) shoulder height. That's not much of a crouch (certainly not "waist-height" as some posters said in here), but enough to mitigate the hit. 2 minutes for that hit isn't the worst call of all time, but not calling it was probably the right call. Sweden should've been on the PK because of Landy's action. Not that I think it would've made much of a difference (certainly not more than Komarov getting 5 minutes, looked like clear intent to injure, no other reason to do that ****)

So many classy Finns in here, love it!

can't believe how boring swedish hockey is, lucky escape two times in row. they gonna lose semis or, in the worst case for hockey popularity around the world finals. i was rooting for finns so bad when i was watching with one eye :))

How were they lucky against the Russians? Russia was lucky it wasn't a blowout if anything.

He is correct. When the head is the primary point of contact, it's an automatic penalty, even if the hit was otherwise "clean." According to the rules the hitter is responsible for making a hit that isn't dangerous.

I'll have to look it up, but I'm fairly sure it's not as clear-cut as that (which sounds like the IIHF rule). The head did take the brunt of that hit, though, so if it's the case, it should've been 2 for the hit and nothing for "retaliation" roughing.

That's the rule. It's up to the ref to interpret what constitutes "the primary point of contact" but the hitter cannot escape responsibility for throwing a hit to the head. Even if no elbowing or other infraction occurs. Not after the Cooke on Savard hit.

blah blah blahy blah, when Finland wins everything is world-class, we are the best hockey nation blah blah blah. when Finland loss, the game were boring, all kind of excuses came etc :sarcasm:

Happy that we showed up in this game and looked like we belong in this tourney. Good fight just couldn't capitalize.
Lund was the player of the game. Rask close second.

Couple of years and our offense might look like:

Laine-Barkov-Puljujärvi
Teräväinen-Aho-Rantanen
Lehkonen-Granlund-Armia
Saarela-Kapanen-Komarov

Or something like that.
Maybe we'll score some goals one day.

Sweden are going to get destroyed by the NA

I don't think so. If Bobrovsky can carry Russia to beat them, a better goalie (Lundqvist) can certainly help a better team(Sweden) to a win over them.

I expect a 3-1 Sweden victory.

im neutral, the game was boring, the only highlight was the clean hit

Well, this is how we play vs Russia and Finland, we adjust our game and we won.

I can assure you that the games vs North American teams won't be boring.

Should Finland lose to Russia on purpose? We remember what Sweden did to Slovakia in 2006.

Probably would be ending up hurting Team NA instead of Sweden. Not to mention losing on purpose is lame. Lose gracefully.

Plus I personally hope Team NA advances so I wouldn't want to hurt their chances.
