Horrible game by Sweden, we are really lucky to get this win.

Backlund: 2
D.Sedin: 3
H.Sedin: 3
Landeskog: 2
Forsberg: 2
Söderberg: 2
Bäckström: 3
Hörnquist: 2
Silfverberg: 3
Hagelin: 2
Eriksson: 3
Krúger: 3

Karlsson: 3
OEL: 2
Hjalmarsson: 3
Hedman: 3,5
Strålman: 3,5
Ekholm: 2

Lundqvist: 5

This is what every game against Finland looks like, they are so good at slowing the game down and making our players look bad. Lundqvist, Sedins and Strålman saved us.

Give this team 4 years and it'll be better.

I think Finland was the youngest team in the tournament.

It's not good though to have the Selänne-Lehtinen-Koivu generation and then a huge gap until Barkov-Laine-Puljujärvi-Aho generation... got to have matured players in their prime performing in every tournament.

Finland is after all a hockey country where hockey is the biggest sport, hockey is still way behind football in Sweden.. so Finland should be able to have good players in every generation.

Frustrating game to watch. Finland played as they should, while our team dangled themselves, missed the puck a lot and were overall below average (except of course King Henrik). But it is pretty common we only play well 1-1,5 periods against the finns for some reason so I guess it isn't much of a surprise that it was a crap game.
Looking forward to and hoping for more speed and smarter puck control tomorrow!

Finland played well and if Laine had hit that last puck it would have gone to overtime ... since Swden played so passive in the third it could have ended in a bad way ...

I'm glad for my Sweden though ...

But thank you Finland for a good game !

Laine should be able to one time those passes and passes even harder than that.

It's happened several times now that he's whiffed completely on a hard pass... That shouldn't happen. Hopefully he gets used to it.

Probably used to having more time on the bigger ice surfaces to one time it to be honest. Just something he'll have to get used I suppose.

Cue overreactions and damnations to Laine...

Two whiffs at the end, the first wasn't timing in my opinion but position he should've drifted more. The last one was a desperation pass through a Tokyo subway crowd Laine never had a chance to get to the spot or eyeball the puck. Of course some will just see two stick whiffs and then Laine has become a bust...

God I'm pissed off at Koivu. If he could score at all he'd be a great player. Just really rubs me the wrong way to see him flub grade A chances like there's no tomorrow. And he always does this, no matter if it's the Wild or Team Finland. Arggggggggggh.

At least Granlund was buzzing the whole game. He really is a big game player, you know you will get the best out of him in the do-or-die situations. Laine wasn't yet ready for this level, you could see it in the end, whiffing and fanning on everything. He will be a great sniper in a couple of years, but he wasn't up to par yet. Which pretty much left us without any legit goal scorers. Sigh.

We should agree on a placement match with finland :D (yea i know that both coud still advance in theory, but I would give more chances to slovenia winning the next olympics than either team advancing).

Barkov and Rask should have been in team Europe this tournament.;) This finnish team just isn't good enough for this ****! 1 goal in 120 minutes:shakehead

Well, atleast the future looks brighter than ever for finnish hockey.

Yep, Finland, your team will be scary in the future. Will be more hardfought battles. Need to hit the sack but will probably be unable to sleep. Hockey does that to me.

Finland is not out? Just beat Russia while Sweden beats NA, and you're all at 3 points each.

Yes we should.. But "kaikki pelaa" system ruined those generations..

Sweden (with that lineup) did not outplay Finland the way North America did. So I actually thought the Finns showed up for this game and deserved more than they got. King Henrik is great though :yo: Burn you who doubted him :yo:

The mental game definitely didn't work out, Henrik rekterinod us.

Still, I have to say that there were several scoring mistakes that had nothing to do with Lundqvist. Several missed practically empty nets, that Teräväinen shot right at his stick... Kind of unfortunate that when Finland plays by far their best game, they still lose.

I think Finland was the youngest team in the tournament. Aho, Ristolainen, Barkov, Laine, Teravainen, Pokka, Jokipakka et cetera are still maturing into their full potential

Finland had an average age of 26. NA by definition isn't allowed to have players even close to that age. Their average is under 22.

I don't blame him at all - these are really difficult situations and these things do happen. He has a great future, only 18, not one NHL game played and was this his 5th on the small ice?

I blame Bauer.:sarcasm:

I don't want to think that Sweden went in trying to conserve energy for tomorrow, but it sure looked like it, given how slow and mediocer performance.
They're I it for the long haul. Winning the tourney is the only thing that matters. Winning against Finland means nothing if they're not in the finals.

Smaller surface, less space and faster game against better competition than he's ever faced. People expect a bit much from the kids sometime. Matthews look good but then again his style translates easier, and he plays on a very well-functioning line.
