Couple changes I'd make:

Remove Ghost from first PP. I think Rielly deserves to be on that PP after this game. Gaudreau needs more ice time. I'd put MacKinnon with McDavid and either remove Matthews or Scheifele from that line and play one of those guys as a centre. MacKinnon is so damn good.

Also, why the **** was the timeout not called during the 5 on 3? That was such a horrible PP. They kept shooting up high. It's a 5 on 3...use the space to score a goal in tight.

Rielly's been great but moving him up to PP1 isn't going to fix the real problem which is the poor board play and decision-making down low. It's not a Ghost problem at all.

Idk aabout anybody else but oustide of Rielly, Paryako and Ghost the defense has blown. Ekblad going down will screw them.

As somekne else said Matthews lead forwards in ice time, Rielly lead dmen and Zaitsev lead Russians. Leafs wont be the worst atlantic team with all the talent joining the roster. It isnt even remotely close to last years team that got them 1st overall.

Incoming- Matthews, Nylander (full year), Zaitsev, JVR (full year). Potentially Marner and if Marner does make it, it will be because he will be making an impact. I also expect Soshnikov to be more skilled Komorav. Probably 35-40 ppint range next year.

My God , are we bad holding he lead ? This collapsible strategy giving up the zone entry and completely leaving the point players is extremely frustrating.

Malkin was terrible, he should not play any more in this tournament unless he starts taking it seriously.

Zaitsev and Emelin were very solid today.

Too much McDavid/Matthews at the end. Gotta spread it around.

Rielly awful on two goals against and that and Murray is what dug the hole.

Questionable ice time decisions killed them

The reason McLellan keeps Matthews on all the time is because he's big, great puck handling, and is the screener. It sucks because it takes away his shot when he's forced infront of the net. Problem is, he's one of the biggest guys on Team NA and doesn't get pushed around in the crease, so McLellan keeps leaving him there.

Too much tired McDavid and Mathews at the end of the game, shortened the bench a little too much, brutal PP assignments and no clue how to use Gaudreau. Goaltending cost them the lead, coaching cost them the comeback

I wouldnt mind them both manning PP1 though with Rielly on the left and Ghost on the right.

it's a shame the mak/rnh/gaudreau/rielly line didn't get any 5 on 3 time considering their previous pp goal.

Gaudreau was not on for the 5 on 3 ... IMO he should have been.

I think Gaudreau needed more PP time. He's a huge weapon.

NA defense had some shaky moments, as did the goalie to let Russia take a lead. NA shouldn't feel too impressed with the pressure... strong score effect and power plays got them the momentum again. Sweden will give them all they can handle, I think.

Jay Woodcroft is the worst PP coach in the league and the whole continent saw it tonight. Zero imagination. My fellow Oilers fans will back me up on this and so will Sharks fans I think.

Team NA had plenty of good chances and Russia played well enough to beat a very good team. The whole narrative of the coach of NA sucks and Russia got lucky is silly.
