Yeah, when rating the teams before this game the coaches weren't rated and they're a huge part of the team. Znarok is a terrible coach.

If he's just going to roll all four lines evenly, you don't even need a coach, you could just have a basketball with a cap on it as a coach instead.

What about bringing up Valeri Bragin? I've always thought he is a great coach.

I'd love to see Bragin coach, those guys battle to the death under his guidance. Znarok is a moron who doesn't seem to understand modern hockey.

Markström this game + exhibition combined:

31 shots against, 31 saves, 0 goals allowed. 100%.

Lundqvist in exhibition:

36 shots against, 28 saves, 8 goals allowed. 77.77...%.

Indeed. We Russians are pretty pissed at that guy. We need an actual expert for our team.

Bragin is such a good coach, we see him every year over here with the Super Series. He's a good tactician and his Russian teams always play hard. Lots of respect for Bragin.

It has something to do with Lundqvist vs Markström. More specifically, that wasn't exactly the most dangerous shot nor would it have been a spectacular save. If Markström had saved it, it'd have looked like a harmless shot and like he didn't "need to work hard". That's what good goaltenders look like.

And it does matter if we talk about Lundqvist letting in 8 goals and Markström 0, sub 80% save% and 100% save% as exhibitions are what we have to work with.

I give exactly zero ***** about the exhibition games. Lundqvist should be in net for Sweden if healthy. Period.

Ovechkin reminds me a lot about Peter Forsberg in his way playing hockey, truly amazing player.

Ovechkin is potentially amazing, but he's just absent in national games, with a few exceptions. I have no idea why.

You hate Lundqvist, we get it. How dare he allow alot of goals in exhibition games, where the players even admit they don't care that much about the result, they just want to get their legs going?

If you don't think Lundqvist would have a shutout this game as well so far, you're dreaming. If you believe Markström is a better goalie than Lundqvist, you're dreaming. Markström has been really solid, but it's Lundqvist he's competing with.

Thanks man. I think Bragin is an actual expert and has a much tougher and more concrete style than Znarok. Znarok looks like a drunkard.

You know, Ron Mclean pissed me off so much with his treatment of Burrows when he vilified him for coming out against the crooked reffing, that it completely turned me off him as a hockey guy.

But I have to say, the guy is a great hockey person and makes games so much better than what Strombo brought to the table. I find my opinion has changed.

This is the worst I've seen Russia play at a best on best since like forever. No one is even trying. This last powerplay just shows how uninspired and indifferent they are. It's not even the defense that can't make a pass, those so said "star forwards" can't make a pass or take a good shot.
And their coach, he's real gem. He has no clue what to do.

They are trying, but Sweden's team defence is swallowing them alive.

Still 20 minutes left though. Russia can without a double score both 2, 3 & 4 goals.

I hate Lundqvist? Actually, I do not.

I like Markström a lot and I think that it's ALWAYS unfair that a poorly performing veteran goes above a well playing younger player. This is ALWAYS consistent for me and is not specifically about Lundqvist.

How is listing facts with no opinion attached implying I hate Lundqvist? What a ridiculous statement.

Do you think that Lundqvist or the players cared about their last 2 playoff matches, by the way?

His teams actually play a very hard Canadian style and never quit. His teams always play with 100% effort, he seems like a good motivator too.

Bragin might be the right guy, he's a hard ass and gets the very best out of his guys.

I'd love to see Jukka Jalonen coaching Russia giving structure and shaping all that talent..just to see if the can give a good run for their money to Canada.. but hei, we borrow only for one OG

THese Znarok comments are awfully simmilar to the Zinetula comments made during the olympics... Oleg was welcomed as a saviour being the coach of the dominant Dynamo (as was Bilyaletdinov with Kazan in his time).

gusy... be real, your developement system has been bad for defencemen for years

pray Zadorov, Provorov and Sergachyov pan out for the 2018 Olympics...

or the NHL pulls out ;)

otherwise Bragin is gonna get soo much hate :P

Because your facts are ridiculous. It's as simple as that.

I don't know either, but I am starting to think it is not about not caring - which I never did think in the first place but, instead it might be caring too much.

A lot of nationalistic feelings in Russia these days. Maybe the players try too hard for their country and feel too much pressure, which in turn leads them to crumble into individuals trying to force things, instead of gelling into a team. I don't know.

Even the so called atrocious defense is not that bad.

But there is another thing to consider here, and that's Team Sweden. That is one hell of a team Russia is facing.

Lundqvist is a pretty streaky goaltender. There are times where he's all world, but there are games in a row where he is decidedly average and lets in bad goals. Just ask Rangers fans if you don't know. That doesn't make him a bad goalie, because he's been one of the best goaltenders in the league since he's been in it.

Sometimes goaltenders get hot and go on a run. If Markstrom is playing better, you should stick with him.
