LOL, it's not like Markstrom is being tested.

Yeah. Pretty much every shot has been from pretty far out - and no real screens either.

But I like his positioning better than Lunkan's. <----- He's way too close to the goal line for my taste, I like goalies who are a little aggressive and move out to cut of the angles.

Lundqvist can stay on the bench for the rest of the tourney. Your time is up. Pass the torch. Ala Luongo/price.

Markström has an unbelievable defense helping him out. But he has dealt with what he have had to do really well, plus he seems to be a LOT more comfortable at playing the puck than Lundqvist

Russia actually started doing something only after conceding 2 goals.

I really don't think it's from a lack of effort. Their back end just isn't transitioning the puck very well and they're getting worn down by the Swedish cycle.

The Swedish side is so freaking stingy with chances ... you can see the frustration from the Russians, but to their credit, they're still bringing it.

Panarin and Bob are playing exceptionally well in this game.

Markström hasnt really had much to do though

One's let in 8 goals, one 0.

If you saw Markström save the Ristolainen shot that would have gone straight at him, you'd have said that that was an effortless save too. The fact is that Lundqvist allowed that to go in.

If a goalie is big and plays a good, fundamentally solid style it means that they will look boring and "not that amazing". But like I always say: Almost every highlight save follows a goaltending mistake.

I love how good Hedman has become. I first saw him when he was around 14 years old playing a junior tournament for MODO. I remember wondering who the huge guy on defence was was since he was really another level compared to the others. He is also extremely serious in everything so he will become a Norris candidate I am pretty sure for many years to come.

Well, these guys are the best of the best, you can't compare these players with our national teams during world championships.

We are talking about Russia though, of course the will play hard in the third, anything else would be a big surprise

Watch Sweden stop playing now. That's what they always do when they think they've won/is superior.

Wow, Hedman is so good.
It's ridiculous how someone so big can skate so well, be so quick with his stick, be so agile, be so smart and know when to pinch. He's so underrated on HF.

People wrote off Sweden because they didn't play that well in the exhibition games. Heck, the tournament was already decided according to some fans.

If Russia actually plays better in the 3rd and manages to tie the game, I won't entirely lose respect for Znarok.

This is the worst I've seen Russia play at a best on best since like forever. No one is even trying. This last powerplay just shows how uninspired and indifferent they are. It's not even the defense that can't make a pass, those so said "star forwards" can't make a pass or take a good shot.
And their coach, he's real gem. He has no clue what to do.

Feels awesome to watch Hedman play like this and then remember that we have him for another 9 years in Tampa.

Must be nice. He's a great example of how a good player can continue improve over the years to eventually reach the highest level of play. He's become everything they talked about in his draft year.

I wasnt aware that Ristolainen was playing for Russia this game...

So did lundqvist, the same defense. He let in 8 goals, markstrom let in 0

Yeah but those where exhibition games, though I have to say I Love some parts of Markströms game for example when he has to play the puck

imo ovechkin hasn't been bad in this game. ofc he could be much better.

He's had, what, 4 puck carrying turnovers? One shot right at a guy leading into lost possession. One puck juggling in the middle of the ice leading into lost possession.

I wonder what he has to do for you to consider him having a bad game?
