There's an assumption that we have a bright future because we're rebuilding. Rebuilding teams don't have bright futures. Teams with great pipelines have bright futures. This is not the same thing.

And ours won't become great automatically because we stink. The Rangers still have to do this right. I wouldn't bet on the New York Rangers doing anything right.

So you’re telling me that without awful reffing they’d still be *checks notes* 1-4?

I'm telling you they'd likely have AT LEAST 3 extra points. I realize you're a hockey purist but I'm sorry the league includes loser points in the standings. Seems like a post to show off how funny you are and how much of a hockey purist you are. Swing and a miss.

I'd say its more 'hope' than 'assumption', but it doesn't really matter. Either you pick something (in this case the future) to hopefully enjoy or you end watching the game being all depressed and angry. And if you're watching just to get depressed and angry, what's the point?

I'd rather not be depressed and angry but this is the team I root for.

Okay.

I’m sorry in your mind an overtime loss isn’t a loss.

I won’t be losing sleep over three points in a rebuilding season. My thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s families.

And i get that our relationship with sporting teams is 'odd', but in that case wouldn't make more sense to pay less attention (at least during the regular season) and just check in from time to time to see what's happening until they become a competitive team again.
In an average week there's probably about 8 hours of Rangers hockey, that's a lot of time to spend on something that you aren't getting any enjoyment out of, especially when there's no 'need' to watch each game, or even season

No, I agree.

Again, I don't know why I care about this team. I've tried. I keep watching.

It's not just my mind, the NHL gives points for overtime losses. And those losses could have been OT wins. And I've said multiple times that it isn't about the points. The officiating ruins the credibility of the league.

On the other hand, if Hank doesn’t come out on fire they’re 0-5.

Their record is more or less indicative of how they’ve played.

My point from before stands. The majority of this board wouldn’t care if the Rangers get screwed all year, because draft position.

That thinking is just as warped as loser points.

Good game boys. Staal was a lot better. Nice L for the tank. Hopefully the boys can work on their skills and focus on their individual games after Quinn has everyone bought into the system.

Is the future bright? I don't think there's anything special about our system at all right now.

I think we're 3 seasons away from even having a vision of what this will look like.

And it's going to take that long because we did half-ass it for 3 years.

Chytil, Anderson, Hajek, Howden, Kravtsov, Miller, Lundkvist, Shesty can all be part of the future core and 1,2 or 3 may be elite. Too early to tell. Add another couple top picks/prospects this year and yes our system looks real good. It was ranked #11 just recently and could be higher after next year. Yes, I think the future is bright and I think next year or the year after we will see this start to make sense.

The only thing they could do right is get frustrated by their inability to draft so trade all the picks for established players.
