I guess that's what happens when you replace a winning core with a bunch of misfits..

Why would the same vitriol happen with a winning core and with a motley crüe during a rebuild?

Unless...you are suggesting some people are always complaining and using this site as vehicle for transference rather than just being passionate about hockey?

Dude, you ask me to chill out meanwhile you're taking this to a whole new level.

I can't answer for other posters but I didn't have a problem with the winning core.

What I do have a problem with is that, that winning core was never supplemented with the proper players to push them over the top.
With that said, JG can build this team anyway he wants.
Do I trust him to bring in the right support at any point after?
f*** NO!

They got hosed on these calls. Definitely a little disgusting but these things happen to bad teams.

Wasn't McQuaid supposed to sit for Pionk?

@Ola The D situation seems bad but basically I think the plan is for next season that Hajek enters the rotation in place of Claeseson who has looked pretty good, and the following year after Girardi's buyout is down to minimal money, they'll but out Staal. Marc Staal will at some point get the Ron Greschner post back injury treatment. It's a long season.

Spooner hasn't done anything this year. He should sit if he keeps it up.

Zuc is starting to remind me of St. Louis second half of 2014-15. Something seems off with him and it's not just effort. He can't hold on to the puck and he falls a lot and flubs shots.

I don't think Hayes is disinterested but credit to Gorton for knowing more than us because he looks to have regressed from the last two years. It's in his own per$sonal be$t intere$t if you know what I mean to play well.

I'm not trying to crap on Lettieri but he hasn't done much of anything so far. At some point I wouldn't mind if they swapped him for either Anderson or Gettinger.

Kreider is going to have another "this should have been his breakout year." He just isn't consistent. Rangers have a player like him every generation or so it seems; a pretty good player who scores some really clutch and memorable goals with all the talent in the world but can't figure out how to use it. Duguay (with the exception of his 81-82 season)m Kovalev (thank you for 1994 and for the first round in 1995), and Kreider.

Finally, Vesey after a great start is reverting back to being an awful passer.

I noticed at the end of many plays Kreider is grabbing his rib cage and grimacing. I am thinking he is having issues from the rib redaction procedure last year. If not that then something else is causing this. He's not 100%.

Everyone that's this angry already is in for a really tough year.

I'm just kind of bored with it. I knew we'd probably be terrible but hoped for some Cinderella ****. That isn't happening, so it's kinda like, meh, when does next season start?
What if next season is like this one? That's the thing about rebuilding. You dont get to choose when your done.

Well I guess I should have said, "When does the off-season begin?" Because I want to see what we do to make next season different than this, or at least what we do to make things better than they are.

I get that, but we're still trusting the same people who couldn't build it to begin with to rebuild it.

To say they've never succeeded in bringing in elite talent is "just because they never did a full rebuild before" is a huge cop-out.

It's been almost two decades. If we were capable of identifying elite talent, we would have drafted some of it by now.

That FO you're are so unsure about built a pretty damn good team for about a 10 year stretch that included 3 conference finals and a Stanley cup final in a 4 year span. They are capable of putting together a contending team thru drafting, trades, and FA signings but I understand, you always have to look on the negative side. It's just what you do.

They did well, but they never drafted elite players. That's what this whole rebuild is predicated on.

Im guessing most of the board wasn’t old enough to have lived through the late 90s-early 2000s dark years?

This is nothing.

Those were some bad times. I started watching in 1988 and I was in college 99-02. Good timing because I would just drink a lot after watching there games.

Dude, It's alot easier to draft an elite player when you are drafting in the top 3rd rather than making playoffs every year and drafting anywhere between 20 and 30. We had 5 1st round picks the last 2 years and I would guess another couple this year too. This needs some time. It's 5 F'ing games into the first full year of a rebuild.

I was finishing HS and into college then. Some awful hockey. No hope. Cartoonish coaches (Muckler was a grumpy old man, Low was clueless, and Trottier was in over his head). Had a few good young players but they never stuck.

I really didnt mind the game today, basically came down to those two posts Zibanajad hit. Every game theres seems to be a little better structure, once it becomes a reaction the team should be decent. I thought the Zibanajad line did a good job against McDavids line. I think the lines still need some tweaking but we are improving in my eyes.

This wouldn't be so frustrating if we didn't have 3/5 players playing less than they're capable in every game.

Anyway, 3 criteria

Did the team work hard? Yeah, I think they did for most of the game. Lost some steam for parts of it, but we didn't see the gliding we saw in Carolina.
Did the team do something to make us proud? Not in this one. They might have worked hard, but it was a pretty uninspired performance.
Did the young players do something good? Nothing stood out about any of them in this game.

It wasn't a good day, and it wasn't a bad one. Just sort of blah.

It's 18 going on 19 years of the same front office. Excuse me for being impatient.
