Tedenby popped during the rookie camp as well. Let's wait till he plays some games with Michigan before we deduct anything from his game.
Tedenby had pretty horrible pre-draft production, that's a really bad sign for a small forward. Pre-draft production isn't nearly as predictive for defensemen, but at least Casey's production lines up similarly with some high end producing defensemen like Dennis Wideman, Damon Severson, Eric Desjardins, Adam Fox, etc.

Agreed with your basic premise that rookie camp doesn't mean anything and Casey has a long way to go, but at least the indicators to date are a little better for him than they were for Tedenby.

This video is a bit dated, but I like that it shows off his shiftiness a bit more than other reels.

He definitely has high end skating and puck skills, but I would be careful taking too much away from those clips and the level of competition he’s out there against. Also very limited (if any) clips of his defense there. The biggest factor in his development and how his game translates will be whether he can defend against NHL size and speed.

Yep I said it already, this guy was a very skilled d-man before and was held in same tier as Jiricek and Nemec before (at least by me, so take that with grain of salt). I also said, he hasn't really progressed much offensively though and the size concerns are still there so he's a very big work in progress. The upside is there though for sure.

I think the stats belie his offensive upside, because he wasn't given the PP1 duties over Hutson (who is a better pure offensive defensemen).

Man, speaking of Tedenby, and not to derail, I remember watching this vid on repeat and thinking we had a special one...

I loved him too. Had a Tedenby jersey during our Cup run in 2012. I was convinced he was going to be electric. Given some of the predictive models we have today for prospects, my expectations would have been more tempered seeing how unlikely it was for a guy with his production to pan out.

Looking back at that montage, It demonstrates how horrid the Goaltending was over there that made Tedenby look better than he actually was.

Anyway....how about that Seamus Casey guy, eh? He's got a thread, I think....

He’s so sick. Thought he should’ve been like a mid first. If he can work on his quickness he could be very very good. Sky is the limit is ends up more mobile
