Thanks for the input, Stive! We really need to restock our baron prospect pool, really hoping we nailed these first two picks, in particular.

I hope you continue to follow him and he lives up to your expectations :)

You're awesome, thank you so much for the feedback!

I'm going to try to watch as much as I can this season. By any chance, do you think you'll have a chance to chime in from time to time to share some more observations if he's local for you?

If not, it's cool. I just love hearing quality feedback (good or bad, but good is always, you know... good).

I definitely could. I'm a big fan of his and as I said he's in my team's division (Everett, but since I live in BC I usually only catch live games in Victoria and Vancouver) so I see a lot of him on WHL Live and in person. Not exactly local, but very very close. I always love sharing my thoughts. Glad you guys appreciate my insight! I'll probably be bumping his thread on the Prospect forum a lot too, so be sure to check that out next season for more info.

lots of enthusiasm for JAD. New King asst coach Nachbaur, who coached him last two years. speaks volumes.

"You can't get Don Nachbaur to shut up about Anderson-Dolan" - Yannetti

As a Kings fan, we haven't had too many CHL gems to track during the season.
We now have Vilardi, Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Marcus Phillips, as well as Clague.

Alright. Cleaning up the politics now, since the redirect didn't work.

Don't go there, folks.

Exactly. I don't think anyone should be against the Kings drafting a player based on his LBGTQ associations. Hockey is Hockey.

And I believe most hockey fans tune in to watch hockey for the HOCKEY, not to have some political/social agenda preached and paraded.

I hope Jaret has a fine hockey career, and becomes known in hockey b/c of his hockey, not for his LGBTQ background (aka Michael Sam, Jason Collins, etc..).

One rule - If you can play, get to work and play. If you can't, get the **** out.

Play every shift like someone is going to take your job. Sick of all this external nonsense. This is a business, as is every job. Shut up and work, if not get out. A person's personal preferences or family is nobody's business, judge them solely on production.

QFT. :yo:

We really got the biggest steals of the draft in Vilardi and JAD. No way these players should have fallen to 11 and 41 respectively.

Pens fan here and longtime prospect watcher. I was watching the (really, really) long highlight video on Yamamoto. I came away just as impressed with this player and some of the creative playmaking I saw in those videos on KY's goals. Had no idea what his story was -- how old he was, if he had been drafted, etc..

Now that I see he was eligible this year and only made this draft by 3 days (meaning he could still have a growth spurt and has lots of room for improvement in general) and the great numbers he put up, and I think this kid looks like gold. I think you got a steal here and best of luck to you and him with this pick.

Who cares that they're offensively creative, play a 200ft game and are high character kids..... scouts said they have choppy skating and have peaked at 17YO:sarcasm:

With Amadio, Vilardi and J.A.D... we're pretty much set at center for the decade....
Amadio will be ready this season, Vilardi will likely be ready next and J.A.D the season after.... same goes with our defensemen.... now all we need are more wingers, but maybe a Jeff Carter trade could speed that up????

any chance Edm does a JC for JP+ swap????

Guys, this is supposed to be a hockey thread, not a politics thread. Can we please keep it that way?

Thanks!!!

I don't think it's political to say people should be judged on their own merits and not those of their parents or parentage - it's solidly American in principle, too.

Amadio will be ready this season,

Amadio will be ready next season possibly, he still needs to get stronger, only his second year as a pro this year. Depending on how the Kings are doing, he could get a cup of coffee at the end of the year, but I am not expecting this. He is terrible in the face-off circle. I do expect a good year out of him this year, maybe doubling his goals. He was starting to use his shooting skills in the 2nd half last year, he looked really good from about Christmas until the end of the season, although he had a couple of defensive lapses in the playoffs. Still, a solid center who will start out as a 3C or 4C. But he must improve in the dot, or he will have trouble at the next level.

How high of a ceiling do you think he has, Regulate? Not player comp, just positional ceiling? Thanks in advance, sir!

I don't worry much about Amadio, the kid seems to understand that the game and his game must constantly improve.... remember this kid experienced a late growth spurts that saw him grow a good 5 inches so he's still growing in to his body but as scouts tell it, the stronger this kid gets the better his game gets.... its stated by scouts that his writer is already Elite while his game keeps improving.. I expect the kid to close to double his goals and points, however I do think he gets called up ala Shore but with a greater impact...

WHL goal leaders. JAD #12 in goals with 39. I checked all 11 above him and only 2 were 18 year olds. Yamamoto and another. Yamamoto DOB is 9-29-98, so he played all year as 18 yr old. JAD is still 17 and does not turn 18 until 9-12. He barely made the draft this year. He was the youngest top goal scorer in the WHL, with 39. If he was born a week later, would be a 2018 draft and probably be rated top 10 for it.

with his speed, shot and abilities, may easily top 50 goals this coming season.
I would not be surprised if he competes for a spot and even makes the Kings 18-19
season. speed, skill, smarts, character, leader. The way Nachbaur raves about him,
he should know.

I may be nitpicking, and I apologize, PJB, but scoring 50 goals in any league is not easy, and don't see that as something that's easily attainable for him.

But I am very fascinated by what he could do now that he's had some guidance from a professional NHL organization. He was already on his way to doing it all himself anyway, with his professionalism and diet habits.

He is a bit difficult to judge sometimes, because it doesn't look like his compete level is consistently high. His whole personality is somewhat aloof, and yet, he is not dogging it at all. Very smart player, reminds me of Mike Richards without the physical play. Excellent vision and passer, right up there with Dowd I would say, maybe better passing on the rush. Always seems to be able to disrupt plays with his stick work. Comes out with the puck more often than not on open ice, but need more strength on the boards. Could he be a 2C? Maybe, but we need to see more out of him. He is an average skater. You see his personality on the ice, and as he gets more confidence, I feel his courage and command of the game will improve. At least last year during his rookie campaign he would push back in a scrum. During his initial short stint in the A after finishing juniors he was extremely timid.

That's provided any of these guys can play the NHL game.

I think those questions will be answered this season along with what direction Blake and Co take with the team..... add UFA, trades and sprinkled with youth or move tradeable assets like Carter, Muzzin, Martinez, Lewis...etc... and start a rebuild around Doughty along with Kopitar(no ones taking the contract), Quick(Might be tradeable).... Vilardi, Amadio, JAD, Clague, Wagner, Forbort, LaDue, Toffoli, Pearson, Kempe, Brodzinski are pretty much our future....

True. I shouldn't have said it would be an easy mark. 39 goals as a 17 year old in the WHL is impressive. Many of the more talented 17 yr olds points go up + 20% or more in their 18th - 19th yr. 50 goals would not be out of the question, after a Summer training with the Kings and going back and playing with Yamamoto.

it's just so good to see that the Kings finally have some true top 6 potential forwards in the system now in Vilardi and JAD.

Amazingly I still see a spot for Lewis on the revamped team. He would be a perfect mentor
