I'm going to be real disappointed if he doesn't make it with the Kings. I will never forget that first development camp where I (especially) went to see Gabe. I was admiring Gabe's workmanlike determination and skills in the drills when I noticed some Russian guy down at the other end just killing it. I was thinking who the hell was that, I dont remember any Russians invited to camp -- must be a late invite. He skated closer and his jersey said Anderson-Dolan -- all those letters.

No question in my mind he's an NHL player, but with how the Kings are playing I can't seem him replacing anyone.

Vilardi also should be in the NHL. I was sketch after he got sent down initially, but he's been real good the last bit. Still slow af, but man the skills on this guy are amazing.

Or he becomes a great trade asset.

Hopefully he makes up 1/3 of the best fourth line in the league next season!

JAD - Lizotte - Lemieux

I absolutely think that is the best 4th line next year. Kaliyev moves up. The problem with this whole scenario is where does Brown go if we resign him?

The Kings definitely have some decisions to make regarding JAD! I have him penciled in as the 4th line Centre or LWinger for 2022-23 with a bullet!!!

I guess it depends if you want to win, or want to be overly gracious to the cup captain. Having tenured professors on your hockey team is not ideal since your body fades before your mind. Hopefully Blake can ask himself a simple question and give himself an honest answer: "What can Brown do for you?"

Practice 3/1 - Moving On Quickly + Anderson-Dolan recalled from ONT, Road Warriors, MAaTTa - LA Kings Insider

Ontario Assistant Coach Chris Hajt on Anderson-Dolan
He’s been able to raise his game and he’s been consistent with it and that’s half the battle to playing at a high level for a long period of time. That gets you noticed, that draws the attention of the Kings and you never know where that takes you. All JAD can do is continue to play the way he has and hopefully he gets an opportunity, but for us he’s been terrific and good for him for having that streak. He’s rounding out his offensive game, he’s been a key contributor to the power play unit that’s been so successful, but he plays a 200-foot game as well and he has an ability to play both sides of the puck and he’s just been very consistent.

38 in November, y'all. His play will not level off or bounce back. He will get worse as the weeks and months go by. Signing Brown for an additional year would be a ridiculously stupid move by Blake. There are a ton of better options in Ontario right now if given a chance.

Sounds like Bashing here but Brown would be down on the depth chart in Ontario.

When you say slow AF, are we talking Luc slow or Toffoli slow? Because both could score on fast lines and speed is overrated.

Tbh I'm not so good at comparing. Off the top of my head though he reminds me of Jason Allison. For sure he'd be the slowest player on the team rn. But as you said, it can be overrated especially with the level of skill he brings. Immensely talented player and I still maintain just from skill alone, he's the most talented of all LA prospects (if he's still considered one).

Remember Brian Boyle? Now that guy was slow, yet he's found a way to still be playing almost 20 years since his draft. The guy worked with a skating coach that saved his career. Valardi skating , if the team think it's a problem will do something about it too. I just think everyones still obsessed with fast players, not all of them are and many think they can't be successful in the league.

I'm not one of them and I personally do hope and think Vilardi can be a successful player.

Speed is important but not a must have. I know things have changed since we last won the cup but we won two cups and made the final four three straight years with one of the slowest teams ever assembled.

Why on earth would someone resign Brown?
We should consider our self lucky that his contract runs out at the right time.
And i say that as one of the biggest Brown fans around

This was before Tampa and Colorado build teams where everyone is 6'4 and lightning fast.
Our slow grinding stuff is not flying high anymore.
Those guys are just overrunning us before we are able to force them to our grind.
Remember the last game when Tampa only had 3 defenders and we are not able to keep up?

I'm not saying we go back to that, as I noted, things have changed. But the point remains that speed is not the end all be all anymore than size was back then. You can have players who may be slower but as long as they can get to the places where they can do their jobs effectively they are still very useful. Chara is slow as hell and the oldest guy in the league yet he's still got some use even at 45 because he knows where he needs to be and the quickest way to get there.

If they're not going to go after a forward in free agency, then jad should be placed on Byfield wing along with grundstrom. I think jad is the real deal and could very well be a top 6 forward.
