The coaching has been exposed this road trip.

I was content with Quinn and his 'developement' of some players and how he got them to play ( example USA Buch ).... but the wheels started to wobble... now they're off...

What does this team practice?

Vancouver has a real nice team. Boeser, Horvat, Petterson, Hughes. Good goaltending with both Markstrom and Demko who has looked nice in his appearances. They're going to be a contender.

I really hope so because if they end up giving a lottery pick to Tampa for JT Miller I'm going to completely lose my ****.

I know the ending was a bit rough but I'm not remotely bummed about the outcome. A few thoughts:

1. Since I started following the team in 1985, there's always been one defenseman that becomes the lightning rod for fan frustration. A few months ago it was Marc Staal. Now it's Brady Skjei. I just don't get the point in making a 25 year old defenseman the next whipping boy. I really don't. Have we as a fan base learned nothing from the Neal Pionk situation? At some point, the team will turn the corner and learn how to play great team D. When? Who knows? Could be next year could be years from now. And THAT point we can actually judge the D. We can see a weak link. But right now? It's totally backwards and just stupid to be running young D out of town in the middle of a rebuild. Chill, people. Chill.

2. That was a very exciting game despite the result. As someone who sees the Ducks and Kings regularly, I've come to appreciate just how rare and great it is to root for a team taht's involved in so many fast-paced, high skill regular season games. It's a treat. And given the transition the team is in the midst of, it's totally rare. I'm here for it. How can we be upset with highly competitive games where we can see the progress of the younger players right before our eyes? And at the same time keep ourselves in position to draft high enough to get another difference maker. Sign me up for more games like this the rest of the season.

4. This is the first time all season where I feel like Kakko finally has legit chemistry with a center. Whoever helped him understand he needs to keep his legs moving and shoot deserves some credit. Hope it continues.

5. The team NEEDS to tank and sell this year. Please god, no playoffs. We need to draft 2 more high-end forwards in 2020. There's just a total lack of depth in the organization at forward after Kravtsov. Mostly question marks and AAAA players. We need one more potential star forward and then a few Hoglander/Farabee types in the system. Middle sixers with endless motors and a really nice skillset. We need guys who can drive possession and play with the Kakkos, Chytils and Panarins.

6. What's up with Marc Staal? He looks like a different player. Still has some issues with puck-handling due to eye issue, but he's just doing everything faster since he came back from injury. It's possible he just needs more rest during the season to play up to his full effectiveness.

Go on a losing streak and thr fire Quinn comes out from their cave.

They played well in the neutral zone and holding the blue line. But our undersized or soft dmen is our biggest weaknesses leading to screens, tip ins, and rebound goals.

Fast has one job, keep it simple. He gets the puck and everyone in the building knows hes trying to pass it to Panarin. Soon enough he will be on potential playoff team's 4th line.

Strome and Kaako/Buch need to be swapped on the PP. Strome having to skate from practically the neutral zone on the PP to take a shot or pass is not working.

Thats the season right there. Officially eliminated imo. This is some of the most excruciating hockey i have watched in the last 15 years. Last year we knew they would suck but man oh man this year...this is a travesty. They cannot do anything right.

Would not be surprised if Quinn is fired upon arriving back in NY.
You know genuinely nothing about coaching =)

100% agree on Marc Staal, I was a little confused by how fast he seemed to be skating as well as processing the game lol

Rangers need to draft EXCLUSIVELY forwards in this upcoming draft.

Cuz it’s a hockey discussion board and people like to discuss abnormally bad things.

One things for sure: Quinn is not the guy who will lead this Rangers team into the Promise Land. He's a flat out TERRIBLE coach at the NHL level. This team has a lot of talent but a loser mentality, and that loser mentality starts at the top.

What an absolute WASTE of a brilliant season by Panarin. I think that ticks me off more than anything. But I guess I should be used to it. The Rangers basically WASTED 70% of Brian Leetch's brilliant career by surrounding him with absolute trash.

Quinn reminds me of Dallas Eakins a few years back when he coached Edmonton. Completely lost and in over his head, and always with a dumb look on his face. He's got to go.

Yes, they’re team is so poorly built and they have so many ridiculously awful contracts. They sign all these 4th liners for 4 million dollar deals, and those are the contracts that really **** teams up moreso than signing the big fish free agent. Benning has traded more draft picks away than he’s received in trades during his tenure, he’s absolutely incompetent and their rebuild should’ve have taken nearly this long. I’d take our roster & prospect pool over there’s any day, and we were in the cup finals the last time they made the playoffs.
Prospect pool, maybe.

Their core is leaps and bounds better than ours.

This really can't come as a surprise. I don't understand the mentality that bringing in Trouba and Panarin would magically turn the Rangers into a playoff contender and powerhouse. Anyone looking at this team realistically could see this would not be the case.

This is exactly why I was against the deals -- they were the right moves at the wrong time.

They were still the right moves, people just need to relax. If they werent there these kids would be fed to the wolves and it would be an awful way to develop them. This gives them some role models to get feedback from, learn how to act an and train like a professional.
A year and a half ago, Rangers fans "Tear this down I want a rebuild"
A year and a half later "Why isnt this team winning a cup now, must be the coach!"
Its beyond ridiculous.

That was something I remember he did great as a young player. He could really move and carry the puck for such a big guy. I wonder if something charged for him lately. He looks 22 years old again.

I’m glad things are coming into focus with this team. This is who they are right now, and this losing streak is going to contribute to the team selling.

It’s all about the long term, not the short term.

Everybody just sit back and enjoy the nice draft pick

Honestly fell asleep probably the commercial break before the goal. Complete bulls**it. Didn't think we looked THAT bad. Kakko and Chytil are developing chemistry and it's beautiful to see. Georgie was borderline unreal. I don't even want to read back to hear about the goal, it makes me sick. Thought we played a tight road game. Marc Staal should replace Lindy Ruff, like right now. Dude was not looking great and makes Tony D try and do too much and he looked a little flustered at times.

Trade Kreider and Strome while their value is high, trade Georgie before his value is non-existent, and begin the real tank. Byfield is a real possibility and would be the last piece needed to make this team a contender for a decade.

Why trade Strome when he already has proven chemistry with Panarin? You can put X number of star players along side Panarin and there is no guarantee they will have that chemistry. This would be trading Strome for the sake of trading him. Nothing you get in that trade will be a better fit with the franchise winger you just signed at $11.6M.
