Last night was probably our most complete game, if we play like that every night we will win a ton of games, we just got stymied by a hot goalie.

yeah rangers actually played well. Thought their d coverage and pressure on the puck carrier was better even if they did still make some mistakes. Vancouver played a decently good game at keeping the RAngers from getting a lot of great open changes and cross ice feeds but the Rangers still got their chances just got unlucky.
Chytil looks like he’s taking cues from Zibanejad. Probably won’t be as good but he’s starting to look like him out there on the ice
kakko looking better and I like that he’s tried just firing the puck on net more

of all the games to complain about the coaches after this one is pretty silly

I know the ending was a bit rough but I'm not remotely bummed about the outcome. A few thoughts:

1. Since I started following the team in 1985, there's always been one defenseman that becomes the lightning rod for fan frustration. A few months ago it was Marc Staal. Now it's Brady Skjei. I just don't get the point in making a 25 year old defenseman the next whipping boy. I really don't. Have we as a fan base learned nothing from the Neal Pionk situation? At some point, the team will turn the corner and learn how to play great team D. When? Who knows? Could be next year could be years from now. And THAT point we can actually judge the D. We can see a weak link. But right now? It's totally backwards and just stupid to be running young D out of town in the middle of a rebuild. Chill, people. Chill.

2. That was a very exciting game despite the result. As someone who sees the Ducks and Kings regularly, I've come to appreciate just how rare and great it is to root for a team taht's involved in so many fast-paced, high skill regular season games. It's a treat. And given the transition the team is in the midst of, it's totally rare. I'm here for it. How can we be upset with highly competitive games where we can see the progress of the younger players right before our eyes? And at the same time keep ourselves in position to draft high enough to get another difference maker. Sign me up for more games like this the rest of the season.

4. This is the first time all season where I feel like Kakko finally has legit chemistry with a center. Whoever helped him understand he needs to keep his legs moving and shoot deserves some credit. Hope it continues.

5. The team NEEDS to tank and sell this year. Please god, no playoffs. We need to draft 2 more high-end forwards in 2020. There's just a total lack of depth in the organization at forward after Kravtsov. Mostly question marks and AAAA players. We need one more potential star forward and then a few Hoglander/Farabee types in the system. Middle sixers with endless motors and a really nice skillset. We need guys who can drive possession and play with the Kakkos, Chytils and Panarins.

6. What's up with Marc Staal? He looks like a different player. Still has some issues with puck-handling due to eye issue, but he's just doing everything faster since he came back from injury. It's possible he just needs more rest during the season to play up to his full effectiveness.

Good stuff except for #6.

Staal has been an abomination since he got back just as he was before the injury. Last 2 games have probably been his best games of the season though, I'll give you that.

Well you’re not going to get one since I didn’t say that at all. I literally said it was one of the best team team games they’ve played all season.

If they can play any semblance of this type of game consistently, they’ll be skyrocketing in the proper direction.
I agree. I didn't mean to direct my comment specifically to you. I just meant that people might interpret your comment differently and run with a narrative.

Not sure if this was posted...

I’m not a huge advanced stats guy , but I do find them very interesting, especially if they fall in line with the eye test.

Well, I didn't need advanced stats because Joe did say we were the better team 5v5.

Yeah I mean this game falls into the “you can’t win them all category”

I’d find it much easier to complain if they played horrible and lost

But they just didn’t get any luck
First goal was puck luck for the Nucks. Roussel right place, right time on a Georgiev reflex save rebound.

Problem is consistency of course. What team will show up against Colorado? Will they somehow put up 4 goals but give up 5 to lose?

That Edmonton game was very bad , thank god most of us were drinking that night. Lol. They give up 6 goals, and then come back within 1, only for literally seconds later after pulling their goaltender give up an EN goal. Those are the kind of games that makes you want to take a brake from watching them. Would be easier on the liver. Lol.

Last night was different, upset they lost but very happy with how they played and looking forward to the next game. Can you imagine if they didn’t add guys like Panarin, Fox, or Trouba this summer?

One things for sure: Quinn is not the guy who will lead this Rangers team into the Promise Land. He's a flat out TERRIBLE coach at the NHL level. This team has a lot of talent but a loser mentality, and that loser mentality starts at the top.

What an absolute WASTE of a brilliant season by Panarin. I think that ticks me off more than anything. But I guess I should be used to it. The Rangers basically WASTED 70% of Brian Leetch's brilliant career by surrounding him with absolute trash.

Quinn reminds me of Dallas Eakins a few years back when he coached Edmonton. Completely lost and in over his head, and always with a dumb look on his face. He's got to go.

This team does NOT have a loser mentality. They may be a lot of things but that is flat out incorrect.

Additionally, how can they "waste" a season by Panarin when this was never a year where we had expectations? If Panarin replicates this next year and we still are struggling, I'll agree with you then. But we aren't wasting anything this year.

So it won’t be a conspiracy when the Devils pick in the top 3 for the 3rd year straight? Somehow I am both excited and disgusted by the thought.
