Aho is terrible. It's ridiculous to compare Salo to him. Salo has barely played while Aho has gotten regular shifts. He is at the top of his game and it's not NHL quality. He started the ball rolling with multiple turnovers leading to that 5v3 and was Johnny on the spot for goals 1 and 4. Enough already. Make a trade before its too late

Salo does nothing noticeable or above average when he's out there, and not in a "he's so calm and good you don't notice him" sort of way. He doesn't have any elite tools to separate him from anyone else that I've seen. Not interested in either one of them being a full time member of the team.

Anders is struggling tho, no question.
He can't keep the puck.
Barzal is most infuriating because tonight he was so soft.

I won't argue against that. However, Anders Lee was not one of the reasons they lost this game tonight. The timing of that post was bizarre, to say the least.

Very reminiscent of "LOUD NOISES" from Anchorman.

My 74 year old mom paid me a surprise visit and watched her first game of the year. She said we’re too old, our GM is too old, and though it’s hard to uproot your family you have to go to Nelson and Lee and say thank you for everything but give 5 places you’d be willing to go. We are not making the playoffs this year only Sorokin plays like God and quite frankly his play of late is scaring me to the point that maybe it’s not a given that 2 years from now when he turns 30 we give him a Bobrosky contract.
I call BS on that story.

Your Mom was at my place.

Barzal got his way. The disciplinarian couch got fired, so now he can go back to playing his useless soft perimeter game without consequences.

I think they would be in exact spot to be honest. They are what they are I think, they’ll be in it until end and maybe even make it but window for this core is probably closed. I also think obviously management is aware of this so I do think we will see changes.

So Lou is ok with that you think?

For all Barzal criticism Bailey and Wahlstrom aren’t exactly the wingers to set him for success especially Bailey.

Wahlstrom was advertised as the player to help elevate Barzal. Watch the net get flooded with goals is what we were told. Pure passer with a pure shooter. Turns out Wahlstrom can't get open to get his shot off, he can't carry the puck at all, he's not good defensively, and he's not fast, so we don't really see him do anything but throw a hit every now and again. He can't even play on the PP effectively.

This team gets outplayed 70% of their games. Goaltending has masked an avg. team.
Unfortunately the Islanders aren't an average team, there what I like to refer to as a "nice team".
They'll win their share of games, beat good teams, lose to bad team, borderline playoff team. They might sneak in, based on the play of other teams around them, they might just miss the playoffs. The problem with "nice teams" is that, although they're competitive and they give fans some fun moments, they end up drafting somewhere around 12-16 every year, so they never really become a real serious top tier team.

IMO, the Islanders really need to be sellers this year at the trade deadline. They have the worst prospect pool in the NHL and they're not getting any younger. The Isles need to have a few drafts where they have early 1st round picks. The current team past their expiration date last year, arguably the year before.

The Isles need a rebuild. There's no question in my mind. This is a stale team.

Too many undisciplined penalties.

I get that our talent is what it is, but for f***s sake can’t they control their sticks?

He has to make a move. The potential problems that lay ahead with Clutter and potentially Zeke out. Pelech who knows. We are not strong enough to support either.

3-8-2 over last 13 simply just isn’t good enough. Bad.

That loss to Philly sent them in a tailspin.

Well, that was disappointing.

Salo and Aho - Not the answer, especially not on the same night. Watched them both get burned at very inopportune moments.

Way too many penalties, especially when there was no threat.

That one has to go to at least overtime.

I generally try to be positive, but realistic. I don’t see this year’s edition going to the dance. I really hope Lou knows that and doesn’t do anything radical, unless it sets the team up for a very bright long-term future.
