Probert is easily the most popular player.

Best player is another discussion.

Popular sure, but your second point brings up the question as to if he deserved a Cup. Does a player really deserve a Cup for punching other players in the face? Enforcers are much more replaceable than a player like Larkin or Oates. Oates lead a team (98 Caps) to the finals and played in a second one at the end of his career.

In all fairness, Bob was just shy of 0.55 points per game while doing all that face-punching for the Wings in the regular season, and 0.68 in the playoffs. :)

The obvious answer is Jake Walman. No other player in Wings history has inspired 56....56 (and counting), pages of bitching after they were traded. There should be a mural of him instead of Yzerman at the LCA and his bronze statue should be on the main concourse next to Ted Lindsay's.

Aside from that, he's a better choice than Justin ****ing Abdelkader.

Probert was more than punching guys in the face. Just like McCarty was. In Detroit at least, Probert was a legit top 6 forward who happened to be great at punching face.

That thread isn’t going away after Walman wins the 2027 Conn Smythe.

Wut? He had the same compete level as the current team. Talented, yes but I honestly think this might be a worse name than Abdelkader.

For my two cents

Ullman
Larson
Probert
Bergman
Gallant
Lang
Chiasson
Nedomansky
Godfrey
Crozier

Just putting his name out there.
He had at least 30 goals in each of his four seasons here, and he also had a 52 goal season. One of the seasons was a shortened lockout season.

Alfredsson joined the wings about 5 seasons too late. I never understood why he didnt chase a cup like Iginla did at the end of his career.
