Talk of trouba going on waivers were 5th now on tankathon .... cant see mtl and nashville taking him .. its sj and chicago and hawks already have seth Jones

I think theyll threaten trouba its detroit or san jose so theres a good chance hes coming if it's like that but we better get emery so we can use in another deal or a 1st back since they have no 2nds for 3 yrs

If I were trouba I'd say f*** all your plans and send me to san jose California for 2 yrs lmao

But I suspect rangers want cap space to make other moves . I'm demanding emery or a 1st

Defenseman almost always return some value (unless your Walman), so despite the fact we think Holl, Chiarot, Gustafsson, Petry, etc. etc. are all absolute hot garbage and the worst thing to walk the earth (some of which I do believe that)... there is almost always some GM who is willing to add some depth to their blue line with the only real exceptions being cost prohibitive cap hit.

We live in a world where Leddy returned a lot of assets, Mattaa's one leg and pylon-level edge work got us a 3rd, where we could trade a very mid Nick Jensen for a 2nd, where we actually paid a pick for Jeff Petry, where Kindl got us a 6th (HA), and where Kyle Quincy was worth a 1st+...

I think these guys - and their relatively modest cap hits - might return some more value than you would think

If you're telling me that we could move Chiarot, Petry, Holl and Gustafsson and get something back for them, and haven't yet, I actually would want Yzerman fired. The only reason that it's acceptable for them to play for us is that we have no way to get rid of them.

Yeah, I'm okay with bringing in Trouba as long as we can get rid of one of Chiarot and Petry. Watching all three of them in the lineup just sounds too painful. We can't have three guys that used to be able to skate, can't anymore and refuse to adapt their games to their new inability. Trouba is Petry from two years ago. Rapidly declining, but still functional.
 
One of Copp or Chiarot would need to go back in any deal for Trouba at this point. If we could dump Holl or Gus as well with one of those I run for it lol. Otherwise there would need to be major retention.

I honestly think he ends up waived and in SJ. I don't particularly want a disgruntled Trouba causing issues in the locker room if he doesn't want to be here.

Yep, as long as we can move Chiarot in the trade for Trouba, I can call it a win.

I just don't know why we don't try to get a good player. Is there some referendum that we are only allowed to target players that are bad at hockey?
 
Moving Chiarot for Trouba then leaves a gaping hole at LD instead of RD.

I think we need to move away from this idea that we're going to dump a bunch of crap on NYR and walk away with a trade that we love. Maybe it'll happen, but I wouldn't expect it.

I assume Nyr want cap space more than anything. It's likely he goes to Columbus. They need to get to the cap floor. The wings just can't offer anything of interest to the Rangers unless it's a 3 team trade involving a cap dump to Columbus.

Maybe Rangers get holl and waive him, Columbus retains %50 of troubas cap, and wings get trouba. Columbus gets a pick also.

It's the only type of way I see us getting him. %100 the rags don't want a bottom feeders garbage.

It's a shame to see several of the top end teams starting to drop in the standings in the east finally and we're worse than last year.

Chiarot is already a gaping hole on LD.

I'm just not interested in adding to our problems. We have 5 terrible defenseman. We don't need to add a defenseman trending from bad to terrible. If we can subtract one of the problems (Chiarot) while replacing them with a lesser problem (Trouba), that's fine. It's not a trade I love. It's a trade that I can live with.

A trade I love is Ben Chiarot, Jeff Petry, Justin Holl, Erik Gustafsson, and Andrew Copp to the bottom of an active volcano for a bag of pucks. That's the pie in the sky scenario that I want but can't have. Chiarot for Trouba is "well at least he's not the worst defenseman in the league."

It really depends. Are we offloading holl like I said? There's other teams interested in trouba also. With %50 salary retention there's a price

Convince the Rangers to take a lot of our trash and somehow trick them to give us a sweetener by the name of Will Cuylle.

I would immediately forgive the Walman fiasco if that happened.
