Gustafsson did play close to the same minutes a game as Trouba is this year with the Rangers. Maybe the coach/gm knows him and would like him?

Detroit would have to send some money/retention would have to be invovled but the wings had a trade on the table in the offseason that the rangers were going to accept so a lot of this leg work is probably done already
 
I can't imagine the waivers thing is serious. I mean, they might waive him, but who is going to realistically claim him? Even the teams that can afford him I'm not sure they'd want him.

I was thinking Gus and Kane. Kane would have to waive his NTC, but NYR seems like a place he'd be okay returning to.

Honestly .. I'd say here we have Copp (ex Ranger) , Holl, Petry, Husso, Gustafsson, Veleno... take your pick to make it work or a combination of the above.

If we trade for Trouba Petry Holl or Chiarot better be going to NYR with salary retention. But I want nothing to do with him.

If it's for Copp I'd be ok, because Copp has 2 years left and Trouba only 1 year. At minimum it has to be Holl and they retain 1-2 mil.
 
Our defense is such garbage that I do think itll look better with a trouba caving guys heads in. The problem is hes making 8 million, if he was making 3 I dont think anyone would complain

That being said wed better not be paying to get trouba give us a 1st to take him and we send back a 2nd ... something, not giving up a 3rd for him

And once that deal gets done yzerman can tell petry thanks for your services but your nhl career is done goodbye . Dont think many ppl would complain

In 2013 we got DD, suddenly, he became our second best defender. Anyone in college defansman now we should pay attention on?
 
Only way we should be taking on Trouba, is if the Rangers take some of our trash in return.

Copp, Compher, Chiarot, Holl, Gus, Veleno.

For cap purposes, some would have to go. But it has to be someone who has term thru next year.

Holl is the one that makes sense, right ufa after next year as well

Petry's going to keep playing until he hits 1000 games I guarantee it.

I'd be happy if Trouba can help our pk out.

Think Trouba will look better once he gets out of New York.
