24/25 Waivers/Rumors/TDL Thread.

I guess so. I misread his contact. Either way 2 years of trouba at 4m is a big upgrade over 2 years of holl at 3.4

2 years of trouba is better than 2 years of holl at similar cap hits.
Ok cool but we still are stick with another overpriced pylon. Just because we have larger pylons doesn't mean we add more pylons.

Stop digging Stevie.

Was referencing Brooksie. Usually has inside scoop.

Ya I trust Dreger 1000x over brooks

It's not adding more pylons though. It's a replacement. With a more abrasive tougher player

ASP will not be on this team next year..he is 100% gonna need time in GR..

SY will move on from Petry but Holl, Chariot and Gus will still be DRW...at best he waives Holl..goes unclaimed...sent to GR..

That's a bold assumption to make. Why do you say he %100 needs time in gr? I just don't see that being the case.

I just don't see Chiarot being as awful as people want to make out, and I think people go way overboard in complaining about him. You also don't refute that he's our best option on the left side after Ed. Moving him makes us worse.

And I think Gus is a trade a option if he liked his time in NY, and would get an opportunity to play every day. It's not like we're shipping him off to Utah.
Chiarot is probably our best LD after Edvinsson. I still think that opening up his spot in the lineup is better for us. Would I then hope to give his salary and spot to a replacement? Yes. Maybe we can trade a second for Jake Walman.

If no one is available am I fine with letting AlJo have a more consistent spot in the lineup? Yep. Am I fine with slotting Holl on the left and having him take more minutes instead of Chiarot? Yep. Is he better than Holl and Aljo (at least right now)? I guess so, maybe, maybe not. AlJo might be better. It's hard to say. But I really don't think he's that much better if at all. They're both better at getting the puck up ice than he is these days, and that's where the team really struggles.

We have Petry and Chiarot miserably failing in average minutes. We have AlJo and Holl doing alright with super sheltered minutes. Then we have Gus failing in super sheltered minutes. AlJo is the only one worth keeping around because he can get better. Otherwise, they all should be moved whenever possible. Until then they're worse than a hole in the lineup, they're an anchor.

Well, he'd need to completely buck the SY game plan wouldn't he...that all prospects develop in GR first?

Beyond that, while incredibly skilled he is still rather small(for NA and NHL stnds).. I think a summer and season in NA will be what SY prescribes

Spot on. Said perfectly. And accurate too. People get too attached to players emotionally that are bad and it makes them think negatively about getting rid of them. We are weighed down heavily by anchor type contracts in our bottom 4. If we don’t get rid of at least 3 of the 4 we will be just as bad again next season. IMO it’s pretty urgent to try and right this ship, because we are about to have a serious losing culture, if we don’t already.

I assume Nyr want cap space more than anything. It's likely he goes to Columbus. They need to get to the cap floor. The wings just can't offer anything of interest to the Rangers unless it's a 3 team trade involving a cap dump to Columbus.

Maybe Rangers get holl and waive him, Columbus retains %50 of troubas cap, and wings get trouba. Columbus gets a pick also.

It's the only type of way I see us getting him. %100 the rags don't want a bottom feeders garbage.

It's a shame to see several of the top end teams starting to drop in the standings in the east finally and we're worse than last year.

Fire Lalonde and hire trouba

Pretty sure Columbus is cap exempt this year.

If he adds 10 pounds over the summer he's the same size as Karlsson.

ASP is not a standard prospect.

Do not forget Raymond didn't develop in gr, he came straight to Detroit from Sweden.

ASP is the most skilled offensive dman under 20 the SHL has ever seen.

Pretty sure Columbus is cap exempt this year.

They are not. They were told to become cap compliant in a reasonable time. Basically they were probably given a timeline that by the trade deadline they had to be compliant or something to that effect. However they do need to be cap compliant before the season closes.

I was thinking Gus and Kane. Kane would have to waive his NTC, but NYR seems like a place he'd be okay returning to.
If I'm NY I wouldn't want to touch that trade. For a team that struggles at 5 on 5, not sure adding Kane helps shake up the roster

Copp and Holl for Trouba with retention.
I'd rather Compher move out rather than Copp at this point. Copp has one less year on his contract, is overpaid, but honestly is not frustrating to watch when he's relegated to the 4th line, and this way Kasper can be bumped up to the 2nd line. I'd do ALMOST anything at this point not to have to watch Lalonde push Compher out there between Kane and Dcat.

I think Chiarot has been clearly better than Albert, but it's not either/or with having both in the lineup. If the goal is to get better this season, it doesn't make sense to deal Chiarot unless you expect to be able to make another deal to get that LD upgrade.

Which is possible, I just doubt it. I would expect us to go after a LD upgrade, if we go after one at all, to happen over the summer. At which point you have several months to move Chiarot in another deal to get cap compliant. Or we just bury him like we've been willing to do with Holl and Gus.

honestly, moving Kane here is just my own personal fantasy and it makes the salaries work easier. I really don't like how Lalonde deploys this team with Kane in it.
