Which is possible, I just doubt it. I would expect us to go after a LD upgrade, if we go after one at all, to happen over the summer. At which point you have several months to move Chiarot in another deal to get cap compliant. Or we just bury him like we've been willing to do with Holl and Gus.



honestly, moving Kane here is just my own personal fantasy and it makes the salaries work easier. I really don't like how Lalonde deploys this team with Kane in it.

Yes but for that extra year I doubt anyone would take Compher. Like wtf was Yzerman thinking with these deals? It's like he was possessed by the ghost of Holland. He really has been Steve Yzerlland

Stephen Weiss, Fran Nielsen, Copp and Compher. Just say NO and stop signing these maybe they are 2C's types.

Defense is a blowup as well, I'd say Maatta and Ghost were ok, everything else not great.

How can just a fan like me instantly KNOW Chiarot, Copp, Compher and Holl are TERRIBLE signings the first day? Like its crazy to think these guys got so much AND term. But then let Ghost walk. Trade Walman + and 2nd. Like literally its a joke.

I would have liked to bring Trouba in while removing one of our bad contracts but with the deal that the Rangers got from Anaheim I'm glad we didn't get him. Not even close to what we would have wanted. Assets for Trouba at no retention. No thanks.
 
We know Yzerman wanted Trouba going back to this past summer. I wonder if now that that option is off the table (and swiped by his former protege, no less) if it spurs him to be aggressive elsewhere? It's possible he pursued Trouba in the offseason, was told of Trouba's personal situation and that he wouldn't move at that time but would become available at a later time. That potential move is now gone, have to find something else.
 
I want a shake up as much as the next guy but Trouba seemed a lot of the same mistakes that got us here
