If Necas was what we needed, Carolina, a team that needs what we need, wouldn't be looking to move him.

He's best as a RW and is VERY inconsistent. IMO a rich man's Andre Burakovsky.

Don't move anything for a guy who would show up and be this team's 3rd best winger, 4th depending on how you feel about Lehkonen.
Pretty much... if Necas could play center, he'd already be there and solving the issue in Carolina.

Well Oloffson getting sent down means there's a chance something is happening. Hopefully a trade, but could also mean Nukes back.

Nuke it is.

Gotta Nuke somethin’:D:sarcasm:

I don't watch the Avs or hockey in general to only see the team win the Cup. I watched nearly every game in the 48 point season, I watched nearly every game in the Cup season. My fandom is not tied to Cup or bust. I'll likely watch the Avs for nearly every game on the next rebuild.

Even with that, during a Cup window, a team needs to be pushing as hard as possible to win. The windows start sooner that teams think, are shorter than teams think, and winning a Cup is hard even with an ideal setup... so you want as many chances as possible. I'm very happy this core won a Cup and failing to win another Cup isn't going to make or break anything with my fandom. I just hope the front office realizes they only have a few (maybe as little at 1 or 2) more shots to win a Cup with this core and does what they can to put the team in the best position to succeed. If they try and it just doesn't work... that isn't a big deal to me. If they don't try and punt like last season, that is a big deal to me.
I mostly agree with this sentiment and have maybe missed viewing 1 game a year including that tough 48 pointer.

I do think the Avs (and Kronke Sports in general) have shown a willingness to go for it, so I struggle to side with those who say they haven't been trying. I do think that after the really dark years there may be less of a business desire to completely hit rock bottom in the future (like those dark Sacco years). I don't necessarily like that side of things, but can respect it.

Clearly last season they didn't push. This summer they made significant changes and took a few risks. One of them to cover a spot and trying to solve it on the cheap. Which hasn't worked and been clear since at least mid December. So them not addressing that issue or only half assing it would not be trying IMO.

We're gonna trade and probably pay too much for Wennberg and call it a day aren't we ?

Hello avs boardz

Been seeing a lot of rantanen for Petey proposals.

Rantanen + Byram is intriguing largely because we get Byram included in the package as well.

Rantanen and the contract he wants is a bit scary though. I’m more than fine re signing Pettersson to $12M as he’s a top 6 C and if he’s willing to re sign then this whole trade idea is moot, full stop. Rantanen on the other hand i’m not sure. Avs fans correct me if I’m wrong but he’s not an all situations guy? And many of his points come from Mackinnon as well? Though could be a case where both benefit each other.

I’d probably want Rantanen, Byram, and Ritchie back in an ideal trade so we at least get a promising center prospect back in return. Although I’m not sure if he’s untouchable or if that would be too much on your guys part.

Regardless, I really don’t think we end up winning a trade that involves Pettersson, but this is likely the type of deal that would happen.

Oh man, you can't put this out in the open. What amazing thing is cooking that is totally not gonna happen?
It is just my colonoscopy results. Turns out I'm having twins.

I've basically said this all season... and I'm very likely to rage when that happens.

Uhm... seems like you're really typing your thoughts out more than giving us a proposal. It sounds more like you're trying to justify taking all of the Avs best pieces for one player... while still saying it's not good for Vancouver.

Not sure what response you're looking for from this post. That said I wouldn't pay that price for Petey. The fact that he's even being mentioned as a trade piece for Vancouver would somewhat soften his value due to the numbers and possible unwillingness to sign.

I think he'd be a great fit for the Avs. But I'm pretty sure the Avs could do better trading Rantanen elsewhere and fill the team out a lot better without also adding in Byram and Ritchie...

For an unsigned Petey?

I’ve seen byram and rantanen by Avs fans a bunch of times. so it’s not really “my” proposal.

My question is is rantanen someone you whip out $12M for?

I like how he's trying to even backtrack his own offer from the Avs like the Canucks are doing us a favor by adding a potential top 3D, 2C Prospect, and one of the best wingers in the game lol

Truly was a personal situation, nothing to do with hockey in the slightest, I just happened to be in this thread and just asked him.
fair haha

Yeah but you also added Ritchie... then tried to say it still wasn't enough... Like I said, I'm not sure what you're looking for as an answer. Especially on the Avs board versus the main board. I'm not trashing your offer, but you didn't present it well lol

I'll never have anything of potential inside info to provide on anything...half the time I don't even know where I'm at let alone what year it is.

I think you got your answer in a pretty polite manner. It's an intriguing thought but I don't think it happens. If the Avs win the cup, I could see Rantanen potentially moved. Then again the Avs FO is pretty reluctant to make splashes so I doubt it. Both teams are also gunning for the cup.

If the Avs were already on the downswing and outside of the PO's I think that's where you'd see a move like this.

I get that. After I got laid off and went back to freelance I only know what day it is based on how crowded the slopes are, or when my kid is still home at 830 am.
