I feel like Norris has zero value at this point. Could be wrong tho
I wouldn’t say zero. It’s because of his injury history. The kid can play, he’s definitely top 6 center when healthy. Having a decent season so far. I mean if I’m Ottawa I take that trade. Sens need to do something

Sogaard has pretty much no value.

So it’s Crouse for Norris.

I don’t care what the points say - from a team building standpoint, I don’t do that if I’m Utah. I’m not sure why they’d be dying to add Norris at nearly $8 million AAV.

Crouse would be a massive add and a guy who really brings a different energy for Ottawa - I’d be all over this if I were them. Plus you’re opening up cap flexibility.

If Utah wants to take that contract off the Sens hands, go for it.

Norris got his massive payday because he scored 35 goals in 66 games, largely because of an elite one-timer that the PP was built around.

After his shoulder injuries we haven't seen him unleash a big one-timer all season. Starting to think he can't anymore.

And if he can't shoot like that now, he's not going to live up to that contract.

I'd gladly let Utah have him for free. If Crouse is coming back even better.

The idea is a shake up. Norris is 25 and his contract is looking rough but it’s over when he’s 30.

Don’t think Crouse for Pinto really accomplishes the desired shake up for Ottawa, right? Or Crouse for Greig? There aren’t unlimited dance partners. And I see two teams who need a change.

So if it has to be centered around Crouse for Norris and that’s unfair to Utah, what could Ottawa add?

Goalies are voodoo. Utah has two goalies who can’t figure if they’re really good or really mediocre and they just take turns. All the have coming up is Hrabal who looks great but again…goalies are voodoo. Sogaard may not have another dozen NHL games in him. He may be an above average NHL starter for five years, just out of the blue. Goalie outcomes are all over the map.

Sure, that doesn’t mean he has value. I mean, I don’t think he’s a needle mover one way or the other. I liked him as a younger prospect but now he’s just going to be a big waiver eligible goalie guy who has looked fine in the AHL and hopelessly out of his depth in his NHL auditions. He has pretty much no future in Ottawa. Maybe he can turn into something somewhere else but it’s quite likely he’s just another Ivan Prosvetov.

lol what?
Norris has played well is on pace for and is a lock for at least 30, great on the draw.
We have centre depth so he or Grieg or Pinto could be a move to make down the road but this is nonsense as if Norris is some sort of f***ing giveaway.
And this is all after having missed a lot of hockey, he’s playing physical and doesn’t shy away from anything - they just haven’t deployed in that spot on the PP. which was until recently one of the top 3 or 4 in the league - and of course he’s taken some one timers….I mean wtf?

The problem is that Norris is being paid as a top 50 forward as his cap hit, but isn't actually a top 50 forward and can't stay healthy. Getting out of that contract would be great for the Sens.
