I think the stinkers are really getting to the minds of our guys right now. With a more solid performance, I think the top guys could be winning us these close games we're loosing right now. Makes building depth at the TDL harder, but might be what this team needs.

It's certainly affecting their confidence. And this team has confidence issues as it is. They tend to get dejected and frustrated when things don't go the way they're used to.

That's why they're always trying to speak positivity into existence.

That's also why Kadri's swagger and passion were so key for this team. Perhaps more than anything else he brought. It was the perfect antidote for other guys hanging their heads or getting frustrated.

I think they migth have to live or die with Georgie though. Unless MAF comes cheap.

Vancouver just needs to move Garland in the off season and give Petterson what it takes to keep him.

Paying nearly $5M for Garland's 40-50 points is a luxury they don't need.

I would love the idea of Rants for EP. Can that be done 1 for 1, or does one side actually need to add something?

We have Greg Sherman a lot of flack here, but dude wasn’t afraid to make a big splash. Some of those aggressive deals didn’t work, but it CMac had been in charge of the Craig Anderson situation he probably just waits out that contract and the Avs don’t get Landy since Ottawa doesn’t get the boost from Anderson

Denver
Not much considering it would be for Mikko and his next contract would cost at least that much

EP and MacK would be the second coming of Foppa and Sakic. One guy that’s a bit of a hothead and another that’s calm, cool and collected.
Could even load them up together when you need a goal; just shift the hothead to RW and bump EP up.

Ritchie would be our new Drury in this situation and Kovalenko would be Hejduk. Word of advice to Calum, sign your RFA contracts before training camp begins...otherwise say hello to Makar when you get to Calgary.

Avs are adding. Maybe considerably. 1. Age 2 c vs w.
So, something along the lines of Rants + one of Girard/Byram for EP and one of their kids who is supposed to be better than one of our kids, but we all know that neither will amount to anything.

Is that what you're thinking?

I have no clue to be really honestly. Remember teams trying to pry mackinnon from us and our response? If it’s me I’m asking for rants, Ritchie and a first. Who knows I’m probably out to lunch. I do know Colorado is adding

Edit: it appears pierce offered rants and byram and was generally accepted.

I'm always terrible at evaluating trades. One of the reasons I rarely tender them up for consideration and why I was asking about this one in particular. If EP and Vancouver seem destined to split, I'd seriously like to see the Avs try and work that if Vancouver is interested in Mikko as the basis for a return. I just have no idea how big that plus is, but like you I suspect the Canucks will emphasize position (C > RW) and age (25 < 27) which both are in EPs favor.

If the Avs end up winning the cup with Landeskog-Ritchie-Nichushkin as their 2nd line, I’d eagerly await the CMac “i told you so” speech
If the Avs end up winning the cup with Landy-Ritchie Rich-Nuke as their second line, I'll reluctantly line up to kiss CMacs ass and pay tribute for the masterful work he's done.

I threw an edit on my post.

Landy Mack ——
Lehky ep nuke

I’d put lehky and nike on his wings to do the heavy lifting

Possibly move Ritchie to wing in this case

Contract status is a big one as well. Pettersson being an RFA this summer opens the door for a sign and trade or at least the chance he signs long term with his new team.

Mikko as a UFA in a 1 year hurts his value.

IMO it would cost Mikko + Byram and if Vancouver was willing to do that I think the Avs should absolutely jump all over that kind of deal. Ya it's a lot but it literally solves the #1 issue with this team for the rest of the cup window. The Defense is strong enough to withstand losing Byram, and if Landy comes back, we still have some really good wingers to pair with each elite Center.

Working with the deal @Pierce Hawthorne offered, we'd end up looking like this...

Landy-MacK-Drouin
Lehky-EP-Nuke
Wood-Colton-LOC
Cogliano-Meyers-Parise
extras: MacDermid/Tufte-Ritchie-Kovalenko

Toews-Makar
Girard-Manson
JMFJ-Malinksi
extras: Jones, Hunt

Georgiev
Fatty
extra: Ivan

Forwards: Worried about Landy playing those minutes. I'm strangely fine with Meyers at 4C if surrounded by Cogliano and Parise. I somewhat concerned about depth as Bednar doesn't really trust players easily... would he actually use Ritchie or Kovalenko over MacDermid, Kivi, Olofsson (players he's actually used a lot during the season?)

Defense: Needs a PK Dman. Would love a #4 but a #5 is probably more likely. To be honest, I don't think it matters if they are a righty or lefty as long as they can PK.

Goalies: Man, any goalie can get hot. But geesh... let's try and play in the other end of the ice, eh?

I'd do the deal. It would suck losing both Rants and Bo but in the long term I think having a guaranteed driving force on two separate lines is what is best for our chances to win a cup.

Yeah we’re wasting our time with trade scenarios on Pettersson. Canucks aren’t moving him, the fan base would burn the city down again.
