Before the allstar break, I was quite optimistic that this team's faults could be fixed at the deadline and become a real contender at a reasonable cost. As the struggles continue I'm now really starting to doubt Cmac can fix our numerous issues unless he's willing to pay an arm and a leg.

NBA trades are the most convoluted things ever. And they have the magical buyout thing post deadline that the NHL doesn't have.
The broadcasts are at least getting away from the original team "drafting" a player even though they traded their pick 4 years prior.

IMHO it doesn't really matter. We have to keep shooting for deep runs for the team to get the experience and chemistry right. There's no value in pulling up early and getting a better pick. I love this draft, so I'd be happy there, but the team needs the reinforcements in back-back deadlines to try and retool for a run.

So, something along the lines of Rants + one of Girard/Byram for EP and one of their kids who is supposed to be better than one of our kids, but we all know that neither will amount to anything.

Is that what you're thinking?

Why would we add a stud top pair Dman to a trade where we are trading the better player?

The sens have something cooking right now. Rumor Boys hearing that Ottawa would maybe move Brady Tkachuk. Can’t believe it though because no one could be that dumb. 9 points out of playoffs with 2 games in hand"

I'd be doing what it takes to get Tkachuk

What would that even take?

I know his numbers aren’t great, but I wouldn’t mind the Avs taking a swing on Vejmelka.
I dunno. Both Annunen and Prosvetov are playing really well right now (amazing what playing regularly can do, eh?).

I would say run with them and give them a few more starts each. I'd even bench Georgiev for a while until one of these guys falters.

But at the end of the day send them both back to the AHL and acquire a guy like Fleury, and let them battle at the beginning of next year for the backup role. At least you know what you get with Fleury. Nedelkovic, Vejmelka are just more inconsistent young guys that we have already.

Seems like it's becoming very unlikely Fleury moves.

Yeah we’re wasting our time with trade scenarios on Pettersson. Canucks aren’t moving him, the fan base would burn the city down again.
They would riot but this is a scenario where Petey just doesn’t want to stay in Van and they have to do something just like Calgary with Tkachuk

Rants + Byram for Petey basically improves both teams as long as they figure out how to re-up Lindholm. Their D outside the top pairing is punching above their weight and Bo is an instant improvement over Cole playing significant minutes.

Mikko is old enough he likely takes the 8 year deal that Petey clearly has no interest in. 4 years on Petey doesn’t hurt us because this team is rebuilding by the end of that anyways.

It’s funny because it’s a pipe dream but almost an obnoxiously logical one for both teams especially when the Canucks have made it clear that it’s Hughes’ team not Petey’s

Cream City

Not all that surprising, especially considering they are on the cusp of being a WC team. That ship probably sailed a little over a week ago

The Avs schedule is about to get pretty nasty something like 23 games left and 6 are vs the Oil and Wild with the Wild looking pretty good and in the hunt for the wild card. Sprinkle in some Dallas and Winnipeg. In fact the only real cupcakes are 2 vs Chicago 2 CBus, 1 Montreal everyone else is fighting for playoffs or in
