That’s why it’s important to watch games with your eyes open and not just scapegoat players who have earned far more then the nonsense thrown his way.

Where is the big mouth always putting down Staal?

New York Post:

And though it was a collective effort, Staal and Pionk were the pillars on the back end. Pionk was at a significant size disadvantage while battling in front, yet he got the job done. Indeed, Quinn had him out for the final 1:29 after the Stars had pulled their goaltender for the extra attacker, where it’s kind of a melee.

The Staal-Pionk matchup pair has been intact for the last 13 matches. Of the club’s eight defensemen, only one has avoided being scratched. That’s Staal, who has been difficult to play against and has defended well while continuing to confound those who are confounded by his presence in the lineup, if not on the roster.
I'm here

It's one of those things when humans are pushed up against the corner and lose their thought process and decision making abilities and instinctively do the easy and comfortable thing that's almost always the opposite of what needs to be done in a difficult situation.

Not tank for 2-3 years to enjoy the next 15?

8-1-1 in last 10 with 5 regulation wins. Man Rangers suck at tanking but I guess if they are gonna suck, they should suck this badly at it. Nice to see Chytil score again. A game winner at that.

Yet the last 3 seasons winners are from the Metro. Ummmm
Yes, the Pens and the Caps have been good lately. Aren't playing well at all this year though, wouldn't be surprised if both miss the playoffs (wouldn't be surprised if one/both make it either).

If Carolina keeps up what they're doing and see some regression in terms of Sh% I think they take the division this year, esp if they give more minutes to Svechnikov who is crushing his current usage.

I'd like a fourth star to give to Hayes, who probably has been our best center this year.
I'd like a fifth star to give to the NHL, which blacked me out in London despite me not being close to my home market. Well done, Bettman.

You know the New York Post is not exactly the best evidence of whether a player had a good game or not.

It is possible for bad players to occasionally have good games.

Staal is a bad player and has been for years. I don't care if you watch with your eyes open. You look at basic stats, advanced stats, etc. By all accounts, he has not been good for years.

This is not something that is debatable and the absolute only reason he is a Ranger right now is because he is 100% unmovable.

I got to say, I’ve been very down on this team and many of the players, but I’m starting to come around on this team. I really liked their heart last night and the work ethic is pretty consistently there. Solid work ethic is a pillar from which to build and for that, I’m really proud to be a Ranger fan right now!

“Marc Staal do not deserve h8!!”

Okay.

Nah I don’t hate the kid I actually like him a lot. He’ll be a solid bottom 6 guy that will step Up in big moments. I know it. Just a horrible choice at 7th overall considering he’s got cinder blocks for feet. If it weren’t for Chytil looking like a friggen unicorn on steroids the microscope on Lias would be much bigger.

I love this post. Lias would have made a terrific late first, early second round pick. Selecting him 7th overall when there is such obvious deficiencies in his skating( I’m not an NHL scout and I can tell his stride is poor and foot speed is horrendous) during a time and age where speed is central to any players ability to compete, is absolutely mind boggling.

7th overall pick should be for an impact player. Lias has all the makings of a bottom 6 winger or your generic 30-50 point per year guy. Not bad but just nothing even close to a difference maker.

I love how we are projecting Lias as a bottom 6 player already when he is 20 years old and has played like 10 NHL games.

Chytil was an AHL player 2 weeks ago on here, now he is the best player on the team.

There's a lesson to be learned from this, have patience and don't jump to conclusions.

Edit: This lesson is multiplied when said player is flanked on the wing by Cody McLeod.

Lias should be sent back to the AHL. He had a fine game last night but the 7 mins ain't gonna cut it. Let Fogarty play 4C and call up someone else to play the 4th line wing

Bring him back with Hayes is gone.

Zucc zibanejad lias
Ck Hayes chytil
Vesey (whose played great this season btw) howden buchnevich
Fasth strome Fogarty

That's what I'd roll when healthy.
I’d try
Namestnikov-Zib-Buch
Kreider-Hayes-Chytil
Vesey-Howden-Zucc
Fogarty-Strome-Fast

Send Lias back to the AHL, Zucc on the third spreads out scoring
