Cmac didn’t just help, but completely revamped our goaltending and centre ice position this season.

Mackinnon, Nelson, Coyle, Drury down the middle. Are you kidding me?

Avs have a big boy team. It might take some tinkering to get everyone adjusted but if everyone is comfortable by playoff time this team looks incredible.

Balls

I think the best part is.. we are big but also quick and fast. Not RyJo big. Slow and useless.

They learned from RyJo and Mitts. No more slow players or weak for Bednar. You have to have will to fight for pucks.

You conveniently left out:

Necas 26 for Rantanen 28
Drury 25
Blackwood 28 which is great for a goalie

Not a single poster here would fathom the amount of massive trades Cmac has accomplished during the season. Hell, people didn't even think he would get a goalie by the deadline. Next year was always going to be ugly with our cap structure prior to the Mikko deal. There is zero point in worrying about the future when we have zero clue what type of moves he will make come off season. This team on paper is good enough to go all the way, now its up to the players to do their jobs.

All I know is id much rather have "one" last shot like we are doing , than be like the Jets , oilers and Canes who have never even tried.
I did leave out de Hann, but I was trying to quote @Chibby who posted this tweet.

But, the boards f***ing suck today.

We'd better hope Charlie Coyle can be a difference maker. I feel confident that Brock Nelson will be, and we know at least in the locker room that Erik Johnson will be - but we sure shelled out 3 assets for Charlie Coyle and I don't really know why.
Charlie Coyle doesn't need to be an offensive difference maker.

Go out there, dominate puck possession, play the body, box dudes out in both zones, win draws, chip in the occasional goal, frustrate the opposition.

He does all of those things very well.

Imagine Drouin and Nuke seeing they just went from Casey Mittelstadt to Brock Nelson.

I love this graphic..

Also curious to see which version of Mikko Rantanen the Stars are getting - Stars fans are getting awfully cocky awfully fast - talk of a dynasty already, and I'm not sure they know what that word means lol, a dynasty isn't when you make the final 4 and then get stymied every year

I doubt Mikko will be more motivated with his new money bag if he was running out of motivation already.. GL

He'll probably be motivated playing on a good team with lots of compatriots (they have what 3 Finns on that team ?). Yeah won't be great facing him (if we play Dallas) but we made changes so it should even out I hope.

Ok, final grade before I go out and enjoy the great Seattle weather.

B+

Avs got significantly harder to play against with Nelson and Coyle down the middle, and Lindgrin on the 3rd pairing. Those three are big bodies who play a 200 feet game and are very hard to knock around. Removing Mittlestadt is a plus. He simply wasn't working out. Adding The Condor is a nice voice in the locker room which will sadly probably not have Landeskog yet again.

But the Avs failed to finish with a better depth RH defenseman. That is a hole that is pretty glaring. And the price they paid was steep to get it done. Prospects like Ritchie are rarely traded for rental players. This also leaves the team with little to work with over the summer, as they only have a couple late pick in this years draft and no top 100 prospects.

I was tempted to bump them down to a B simply because I'm not sure Manson is going to be healthy and effective enough come playoff time. But the moves are still enough I think to put this team squarily in cup contention.

He wasn't motivated with Aho. Don't really understand this logic. Also not every Finnish needs or wants other Finns on their team, especially if they have been in the league for so long.

Maybe these things can motivate for some short time but not for long

I'm not saying we aren't a ton better, I'm saying we didn't do enough to beat Dallas. Especially if coo-coo-for-Coke-o-puff relapses again. I wanted another Damn like Carlo and someone like Marchand for all those assets we paid.
I think we can beat them as long as Nuke plays and we have Blackwood.

Isn't Heiskanen out till the second round? In that case I would much rather play them in the first round. Heiskanen is their Makar and without him a much weaker team.

Carolina had Aho, one of Mikko's close friends. Mikko got his money and sun, but he still won't have anyone even at Aho's level let alone Mack's.

Dallas with Benn and Mikko floating around the ice like turds in a public toilet.

lol..

True. Anyway not our problem now. Just hope the chemistry builds with all the new additions, up in time for the playoffs.

I would have loved a better RHD, too, but what this tells me is EJ very likely starts killing penalties for this team again, which likely makes the PKing defensemen Toews, Lindgren, Manson, and EJ. Keeps Makar a lot more fresh for 5v5 which is where we need him in peak form. I don't expect Malinski to play playoff games unless there's an injury.

Honestly, if Manson is still having some lingering issues I'd sit him for the time being and run Malinski/EJ on the 2nd and 3rd pairs just to rest the manimal.

I have zero faith in Malinski and I don't want to play a pissed off Moose with a grudge. Ex players always, ALWAYS make us pay.
