I would also love to know what Nill had in mind for fitting him in next year.
They should just do that and try and hash out a contract over the next few weeks. Sucks to Lose Bourque or Stank, but f*** it we'll cry ourselves to sleep with the cup in a few monthsI have a feeling one of the young guys goes (Bourque or Stankoven) and someone like Marchment...
All speculation on my part.

the belief is, they flip the assets they get from us to Van for BoesserYeah. Nill said he's gonna hold onto the young trio but I think it would be tough to pull off a Rantanen trade without giving up Bourque or Stankoven. They'd probably need a third team involved to do it without those guys as the Canes are looking for players who can help them now, not picks or prospects.
That could potentially work, yeah. The question is though whether Vancouver has already given up. They're only one point out of a wildcard spot. If they trade Boeser for picks and prospects that's not gonna help their playoff chances.the belief is, they flip the assets they get from us to Van for Boesser
Tough to lose any of the 3 but upgrading two of them into Rantanen is huge. Would be amazing if they could manage to keep Stank and Mav, but that seems unlikely.I have a feeling one of the young guys goes (Bourque or Stankoven) and someone like Marchment...

I don't think that would be too much of a problem as the Canes are most certainly gonna want players with term in return. Canes are a playoff team, they're looking for a hockey deal, not picks or prospects.
They're not gonna get a fish as big as Rantanen back in that deal so of course they're gonna be looking for young guys like Stankoven or Bourque as part of that deal. So we're talking retool for sure but I'm pretty sure they only want players they can slot into their lineup right now. If they get picks or non NHL ready prospects they're most certainly gonna want to flip them in a different deal. Not entirely true, they were decimated in the offseason, they're a good team but they might be trying to retool a bit here too, Necas was not staying after next year either way.
Rantanen striking me as a “me” player. Giving hard times to the Avs, Canes, and now us. The longer this circus drags on, the more I don’t care for him anymore.
I said it a few times already but I think he just wants to test free agency. Just a guess but I don't think he wants to sign a deal now. I think he wants money. Could be overplaying his hand though. If he has to stay in Carolina and doesn't get going he might be surprised to find out he won't get a better deal than previously offered.Rantanen striking me as a “me” player. LOL the Sportsnet panel asking Stars legend Luke Gazdic what deadline day was like. Might as well just ask me I'll tell you for free
It's not that deep bruhPretty sure he played more for the Oilers than the Stars lol . DId he even ever dress for an NHL game with Dallas ? I don't think he did ?
don't think the agent is the issue here, but the prima donna who thinks he's a top 5 player in the leagueAn interesting note is that Nill and Co. are negotiating with the same agent (Andy Scott) for Rantanen as they were and will be with Johnston and Harley.
