This might be one of those trades that defines Grier's time in SJS...hope he got more than a middling prospect for a promising young player who is a pending RFA.

MG is really good at tearing it down for a rebuild. Still question his ability to add veteran talent to the roster and this move is head scratching

I like Zetterlund a lot, and we will definitely miss his speed and physicality, but a 20+20 winger isn't valuable enough a piece to define anyone's tenure. Graf and Chernyshov's emergence made him a bit expendable.

Ostapchuk is 4 years younger than Zetterlund - another sign that management acknowledges the window is still years away from opening.

Awful, awful, awful trade. This reeks of Grier/his team getting locked in on a prospect and severely overvaluing him. Some things never change.

Or, Grier has a mandate to slash costs next season and Zetterlund would have been too expensive.
I think we are like 20 mil below the cap floor, there is no cutting costs further than we are.

This is just pure talent evaluation failure

Couture will count against the cap. My guess is Grier will go for players who have high cap hits relative to salary owed to them.

More picks, more prospects, more pain...
