First plus is way overvaluing Ferraro unless the plus is the plus we got with Walman
I’m pretty sure Dallas and Seattle he agreed to go to as well but those were the 2 that offered the best packages that Grier was deciding between. Either way, I don’t think you can just say Grier lucked into anyone but Macklin. It was Pitts or Carolina. Those are the only teams Karlsson agreed to go to.
Kovalenko is probably taking Kunin's spot.Anyway, I think when evaluating Grier's work we should also consider last summer's free agent signings, which look pretty good after almost a year, and I think there's a safe bet that Wennberg can fetch a 2nd at next year's deadline. But those two help the argument that he's not a buffoon when it comes to NHL-level talent identification.
We also shouldn't forget about Kovalenko as part of the Blackwood return. He's now healthy and it would be interesting to see if he gets the top six time vacated by Zetterlund in these final 18 games to see what's there heading into next season.
I think it might be more that after trading Walman, the line has to be drawn somewhere in terms of the practical aspect of the team you're going to ice the rest of the year, and the fact that Ferraro will continue to have value (more realistic value than a 1st and more) this summer and at next year's deadline helps Grier dig in his heels on that one.First plus is way overvaluing Ferraro unless the plus is the plus we got with Walman
I could see Kovalenko moving up and Ostapchuk taking Kunin's spot, unless they want him to get more time marinating with the Barracuda. In which case maybe someone gets called up from there to take either Kunin's or Zetterlund's spot.Kovalenko is probably taking Kunin's spot.
Also cold blooded putting the ST auto renewal a week before the deadline lolMystery puck night the day after the trade deadline is such poor planning.
50/50 you even get a player on the Sharks now.
I fully agree. grier has been in a no lose situation.Grier obviously got a vibe from Michkov he was gonna stay in the KHL and Grier didn't have the leverage to risk not having your only prospect not come over for half a decade.
Other GMs literally said they had no idea Walman was available. Stevie called the worst team in the league and said he needed to move money.
Granlund had to be moved as part of the deal. Same with Ruuta. His inclusion was literally the reason we were able to get a first.

Grier, Dubas Detail How Karlsson Trade Came Together
Kyle Dubas finally got his man. On Sunday, the new Pittsburgh Penguins GM snagged reigning Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson from the San Jose Sharks, in a three-team trade that also included the Montreal Canadiens and featured 12 moving pieces. Dubas had been chasing Karlsson for a while, back...sanjosehockeynow.com
Nah, you'll get Jimmy Schuldt and Patrick Giles and you'll like it.i can only hope that gushchin, bordeleau, cardwell, and/or cagnoni get some NHL reps from here on out.
I'm on the mail plan. Got VanacekMystery puck night the day after the trade deadline is such poor planning.

Grier is a rabid anti-LunditeGrier did apparently really like Kovalenko, so maybe he sees him and Zetterlund as interchangeable.
If only Warsofsky didn’t hate Russians…
Why wouldn't they have just taken Driedger back in that trade?Seems nonsensical when that Czech goalie on that terrible team was just traded for nothing. Grier should have called that GM; he's apparently giving things away!
Double conspiracy: Sharks will use their non-own 1st's the next two years to move up and draft Will Sr.s brotherConspiracy theory, Grier gutted the team to ensure that Ovi breaks Gretzky's record on March 15th.
F***in' called it!Nah, you'll get Jimmy Schuldt and Patrick Giles and you'll like it.
