Alberta DOES realize that. Ottawa does not.

In anycase another comment on rising CO2 levels as any gardener here knows their garden has never been better. At this latitude increased growing season, earlier planting, and plants that grow like crazy. My parents never had tomato plants this size, they weren't growing grapes, Peppers, generally considered warmer weather annuals . On a global scale Earth is GREENING, just like the geologic record shows it has many times before. Increasing and decreasing temps on Earth is undeniable and temps have always been in flux rather than static. The Climate alarmists WANT to assume that the quicker phasing of temp changes due to CO2 is cataclysmic. To me it harkens the age old theoretical constructs between Geology (Science) and Mythology (Belief in Cataclysm.) The Science of Geology adheres that earth processes are a result of uniformity, of constant processes that occasionally result in dramatic tectonic or other events. But the gears driving it are thought to be uniform processes.

But Science has been confused on the global warming. Now, instead of believing in uniformity of processes, and the Earth being a unique biosphere with homeostatic properties they are now believing in Cataclysm in respect to global warming. Its described as an end of the world as we know it process despite the Earth having survived many events and Humans being most adaptive creatures.

Much of the literature is undeniable. The Earth is greening. Nasa photos show this. Plants are increasingly uptaking CO2 and benefitting from it. Photosynthesis is aided just like any formula would suggest it would do. This could, and maybe even should be taken as processses of homeostasis in action. Of the biosphere continuing to adapt. Of Homeostasis properties continuing. Indeed its known and not disputed that this is occurring. However the alarmists continue to try to tell us this is only temporary, that their models show the impact is temporary, that there will be reversion, acclimation. So that plants won't continue to benefit and uptake increased CO2 levels even as geology has shown us has happened many times before and for eons of time..

So anybody should ask themselves why Science is now in bed with belief in Cataclysm rather than uniform Scientific processes or even observational processes of what is actually occurring. its interesting food for thought. Belief in Cataclysm historically is more the abode of mythology, religion, and represent such belief systems that Science and enlightenment sought to dispel. But the chief trouble with science as we know it now is that its paid for, aligned. Scientific endeavor NEEDS to be independent of political and social forces and influence. Present day Science, largely, is not.
We are going to see more rain.

"However, as the air warms its water-holding capacity increases, particularly over the oceans. According to the Clausius-Clapeyron equation, the air can generally hold around 7% more moisture for every 1C of temperature rise. As such, a world that is around 4C warmer than the pre-industrial era would have around 28% more water vapour in the atmosphere."

The above and below is why the woman from the UofA was fired. Can't send out a positive message if it goes against their agenda.

"But this increased moisture will not fall evenly across the planet. Some areas will see increased precipitation, while other areas are expected to see less due to shifting weather patterns and other factors."

Alberta/Northern Climates will benefit from Global Warming. Longer/warmer growing season, more rain.

So it appears to be 4-7% per 1 degree.

"Simply put, precipitation amounts are increasing as temperatures rise because warm air holds more water vapor: a 1°F rise in temperature equals as much as a 4% increase in atmospheric water vapor.Nov 18, 2020"

I am quite upset as it’s so warm here that the little ice cubes in my Flor de Cana and Coke Zero melt too fast. :ha:

How’s the weather in Edmonton? :sarcasm:

I'm only loving this post for the Flor de Cana you bastid. ;)

You would think that doulos is noodle from C2E.
We should share notes on that. But nah, I think Noodle, while I disagreed with him on most things,, could at least express himself beyond tropes.

Can always tell when it’s too cold for the dog to poop outside when he sneaks downstairs to do his business. I don’t blame him.

With this weather with dogs I'd just put some newspaper downstairs on concrete laundry room or somewhere for dogs to go. I wouldn't have my dog going outside in temps that I wouldn't be going to an outhouse in...heh

Cats have it good. Litter boxes, cleaned, ready to go, warm inside. Our two cats sleeping on cozy heating vents. What a life.

Yeah generally, just don't let your dog out for now. Only a few more days of this and we are in the clear. Too dangerous really for anyone to be out there.
She’s going bonkers inside because she hasn’t had a walk in 4 days. It’s kinda funny though, she rips out, does what she needs to do and rips back in. We don’t leave her outside on her own, especially not in this cold.

We’re forecasted to have a 50 degree temperature swing from this past weekend to this next one. Supposed to be around +2 on Saturday. But with 20+ cm of snow sandwiched in between lol.

Mother Nature has been into the moonshine again.

It’s pretty bad when NS was the warmest spot in country. My area was +10 the other day. We got shit on all last year for weather. Probably some crap coming soon.
hopefully this is it for cold spell in Alberta. That is just unfit. Dangerous

Not a chance...we need snow to avoid another wildfire season, plus snow is easily plowed

it's downright dangerous to do anything in -35 weather
But those nasty Lake effect snow squalls that Buffalo gets is f***ing crazy. Last year the storm raged for days, dumped four feet of snow and packed winds as high as 70 miles per hour. This year some areas around Buffalo already have 2 feet of snow.. good luck shovelling that.

Walk about 2KM to work and not a fan of taking off/putting on long underwear at work. Instead I use fleece lined pants from Eddie Bauer, which keep me warm and are easier switching at work in a bathroom stall. Just thought I would show people, since they happen to be on sale (though admittedly still not inexpensive).

Many of our southern neighbours are still from locations where they’ve never really experienced regular winters.

It’s funny explaining to these people the concept of a snow brush. Keeping a brush in your car that has a straight edge so you can scrape the frost off your windows. A lot of people think I’m messing with them until I show them pictures haha.

That is one thing I do not miss, having to brush and scrape off the car.

Warm one out there today.
Years ago a buddy and me decided to go ice fishing during a cold snap, might have been -25 in the city but got to the lake a it was -34. We decided to do it anyways because we were "Men", 20lb propane was gel and barely could get the 1lb to start up a stove. Long story short it was super cold in the morning but the afternoon ended up being -17. We were out with our coveralls and short sleeves because the way -17 felt compared to -34 in the morning.

that's not even that cold.
Thats just temps. No windchill. Plus several streaks of -30 there and the -39 is pretty damn cold. The Windchill that day could have been a lot colder.

Those are also Fahrenheit numbers on the chart. For instance -25F = -32C rounded off. It was cold. That month was notable for how long it stayed cold and also for having multiple -30something stretches.

It’s worse than it looks. We were still using the Fahrenheit scale in 1969.
Yep, like I said above if you do the conversion those are plenty frigid. For instance just -15Fahrenheit is -26C. Again those numbers posted without windchill. It was cold the entire month. It was a furnace killer month for sure. Might be the longest contiguous cold snap of long duration Edmonton ever had. Busses breaking down, planes couldn't fly etc. I think it was that winter that resulted in the schools being closed once in awhile when it got severely cold. That -39 posted on the chart there was probably a 50C with windchill. Maybe worse. I recall it being very windy as well.

lol we were still playing road hockey. moms would all want to overdress us. I hated that. "I'm not playing road hockey in that get up" Cripes, we were just outside on the street. You don't EVER get cold playing road hockey.
The problem was sweating and snot flying...
