Islands in the stream.
Another thing about the upcoming weather change. Sunday is listed as "chance of showers" and this just preceding snow, and a week of colder weather. I look at that and immediately think the worst of this is everything is going to be surfaced with ice. Just under the snow.

next that this happens on a Sunday so that the Monday drive/walk to work will be awful. Always seems like the worst happens just before Monday morning.

If this weather forecast comes to pass might just be better NOT to shovel sidewalks for awhile but instead allow snow to pack ontop of ice. Otherwise hell trying to remove the ice at listed temps next week.

This weather brought to you by "Alaskan Ice melter" Stop by Canadian Tire and get a few bags now..

Yah, I hate that when it rains and then the temp suddenly plunges, while the precip continues. Never seems to work the other way.

Just drove from 149st to 91st on the Whitemud around 645, it’s glare ice on the Whitemud, hill down to the snow vally bridge is slick, go slow or it’s a toboggan ride (watched a couple trucks do that). I drive a truck and snow tires and it’s garbage out there.

Honestly, if you don’t NEED to go out I’d stay home, small cars will be close to pushing snow in residential area depending on drifts.

I don’t understand why the city doesn’t waste some sand on the roads early, I know they will plow it later but they need to do something to make it safer.

Silly that they didn't start even before the snow stopped.

I'm the furthest thing from a City hater but the guys working those crews get paid on salary... so they just sat around all winter and then had a nice chill start the one day they were needed??

There were about 15 plows out at midnight when I checked the link.
I could be wrong but I believe most of the plow guys are subcontracted. :)

It will be interesting to see how long this clean up takes, the last one took forever.

Considering we haven’t had much snow I figured they could hit this hard.

All busy clearing bike lanes first. Thats the priority for the monday morning commute. The 300bike riders vs 300K people driving to work Monday morning.

That said its amazing how many of these snow dumps and blizzards occur on sunday-monday making the roads a nightmare. Its uncanny how often Monday is shit road conditions.

Yup, it always seems to happen on a Sunday night, to make Monday a challenge. And got to get those bike lanes pristine for the 500 Eco saviours. We really needed this snow badly though, and although I'm not crazy about road conditions, I hope we get lots more before winter is over. Rather have it now than May.

unfortunately the places that REALLY need the snow (the North) still aren't getting enough of it...bone dry

I'm already preparing for a smoky summer

Although the Sunday night dumps are annoying, I would take them over a random snowstorm during a mid-week afternoon. The drive home on those days are an absolute nightmare to say the least.

I saw someone cross country skiing on the sidewalk today. Had a nice chuckle
I'll strap on my showshoes to go to the store a few blocks away. That'll get some laughs.

Caution to everybody that in some spots there is glare ice under all this snow. Easy to slip.

I have no skin in the game being retired now but so many times I'd be frustrated that all the major storms seemed to impact monday AM traffic which is hell to begin with in winter, in Edmonton, where driving skills approach zero. One vehicle advancing at lights because somebody is scared to step on the gas because of snow is ridiculous.

man, I don't miss it.
