My late season Jays playoff push lasted 2 days.

I’m back on the tank train!!!

Until July 31st:
Position Player fWAR: 13.6 (14th)
Position Player wRC+: 98 (16th)
Pitching fWAR: 4.5 (29th)
Starting Pitching fWAR: 6.5 (21st)
Relief Pitching fWAR: -2.0 (30th)

Since August 1st:
Position Player fWAR: 4.9 (7th)
Position Player wRC+: 113 (9th)
Pitching fWAR: 2.2 (16th)
Starting Pitching fWAR: 2.4 (6th)
Relief Pitching fWAR: -0.2 (25th)

They are 1st in DEF rating and defensive runs saved.

Relief pitching hasnt been good from a WAR perspective but since August 1st they have put together a 3.64 ERA and tied for 2nd with the most saves only behind the Dodgers. Helps when your starters can go deeper.

I'm not bi polar but.... 7.5 GBs of WC, sweep the Twins and you are 4.5 GB of them with almost a full month to play with Bichette and Romano back soon? 23 games left, pick up 2 games one week and 1 game a week for the remaining 3 weeks in September, maybe you are in a playoff spot.

I'm ready to be hurt again.

It does lead to optimism for next year though. Jays have depth at the infielder position to fix holes elsewhere. They definitely need another big bat somewhere in the lineup. If Francis continues to do well the need for starting pitching decreases. I would hope Jays still target a starter in the offseason. They would have great depth with Bloss and later Manoah coming off IR.

Swanson has improved and it would be nice to see how Romano looks. Fixing the bullpen is a must although I don't think it looks as bad as it appears.

I know I said I am anti-tanking, but I'd rather lose all 3 to Minnesota to mess with Boston's chances further. Or sweep them and sweep the next 2 series after that. No in between.

What would we call the Jays version of Rocktober? Because that’s what we’re getting baby.

The bats have quietly regressed to their early season futility in the last 4 games, at least thru the 6th inning of this game so far.

Hit a few hard to the wrong parts of the park.

Could not string anything together against Lopez.

Yep, back to early season stinkiness... Oh well the last month was way more fun to watch in terms of offense.

The ironic thing is that I’m pretty sure this performance over the last 2 weeks was the type of team Atkins envisioned the Jays being.

Agh, Dan. I didn't need to be reminded of Angel Hernandez. I was enjoying the fact that his retirement let him fade into memory.

Also stop, stop. They're already dead.
