Can't complain about this deadline. I think we're still right in the mix in the East and Wennberg and Roslivic both add dimensions we really lacked, namely quickness and transporting the puck. Nobody is reviving Zibanejad. He needs to wake up. The pressure should still be on Artemi too. This is a big postseason for this core and it's on them to step up, not wait on management to bring them a star.

The West will be ridiculous, but the path through the East is wide open IMO.

It's ride or die time, forward group and defense corps. Summer will see the major moves.

I am, I said like 2 posts ago that I'm giving Drury an A for his restraint.

We retained the assets to go get what really matters - big game hunting for a 1C and first pair D come the offseason when we can dump Trouba and maybe Mika.

I like our moves and I'm happy we didn't give up too much as Vegas and Florida went all in, we weren't in that kind of position so filling holes with good players gives us a chance without hurting the future. Get Mika going, get Kreider going, Trouba, Lindgren, Igor steals a series...who knows

The success of the offseason depends on some of core guys ability to step up. Mika, Kreider, Trouba, Lindy and Goodrow. Also Bread needs to show he is a playoff guy. If they can't do that we should just start a rebuild this upcomming summer, because no trade is going to fix that.

If if we do major moves in the Summer, how many teams go through major transformations to get *better*? Usually major moves are resets/rebuilds. I am sure there are examples, but I can't think of any.

I give Drury a B+ for the deadline

Instantly became a B after not trading a first, big prospects or Kakko.

He finds two forwards and a depth D that are upgrades and deepens roster.

But even spending big for a big name add doesn't guarantee anything. Vatrano and Patches wouldve been mistakes. Everyone else available there was a good reason he couldnt get them.

I still think this team is good enough to get to the Conf Final with things breaking the right way and thats about it

Also Vegas has been masterful in adding guys who are a lock to end up on LTIR at some point so they can keep the cycle going.

I don't know if its intentional, but they've worked the loop hole masterfully.

Realistically there was no one out there IMO that would put this team over the top. So why give up 1st round picks and top prospects? I’d rather hang on to them and use them as leverage for a trade in the off-season.

If you're someone who wasn't confident in the Rangers were winning the Cup back in January (like me) then you should be perfectly okay with this deadline (like me).

Unless you're a smooth brain that was okay with blowing assets for mediocre ass players like Frank Vatrano.
