Recalled/Assigned: 2024-2025 Colorado Eagles and Utah Grizzlies (ECHL)

5th overall in the league by that metric as well. I was a little skeptical that Schneekloth would be able to replicate his meteoric ECHL coaching success in a higher league, but he really has that team clicking. The Eagles are 25-12-4-2 in his inaugural AHL season, and given that he really doesn't have a ton of star power to work with from the Avs it's even more impressive.

Dude might be the next Jared Bednar if he keeps this up.

Look at what our last coach is doing in Anaheim tho. You just don't know sometimes.

Cronin is a victim of the Peter Principle which states that people tend to rise to a level of respective incompetence.

People tend to get promoted based on how great they are at their job...but the promotions add additional (mostly managerial duties) on them, and they become much less capable and effective. Not only do you lose a great worker by promoting them to management but you also run the risk of promoting a completely terrible people person into a managerial position and destroying the workforce that's under them.

The military gets around this by not allowing people to quit when shit gets rough. I have no idea how you handle this in a sports environment where everyone already has a million dollars in the bank and can basically afford to say f*** off and go live a decent life with very little work required for it. This is the biggest reason why I stayed faithful to Bednar until this season. You often times don't know how good you've got it until after the fact. But things are absolutely getting worse for the Avs and it's not because CMac is bringing in a bunch of shit. He's added a lot of potentially great tools but it appears Bednar doesn't really appreciate nuance or anything that doesn't affect his top line or pairing. He gives no shits about anything other than his top five.

Not a star studded lineup but good depth and a balanced lineup.

Our last coach never really accomplished much in the AHL. Was supposedly good for player development through and well liked.
Yeah, Cro's Eagles were always pretty mediocre as far as winning, but he did have multiple successes on the development side, so he had that going for him.

Schneekloth though just has a record of winning. He won back to back Kelly Cups in his first two years as a head coach in the ECHL, and now the Eagles are soaring in his rookie AHL coaching year. He has pretty much exactly the same caliber of roster that Cro had, he just wins a lot more. That's why I wonder if there's a future for him at the NHL level someday.

Also, mildly surprised they appear to have gone back to Mandolese/Miner, when Adam Scheel seemed to be a nice part of the Eagles recent climb.

Not sure if he got sent back to the Grizzlies or what.
