He played a different position every week at Chelsea. I don’t think anyone’s debating where Havertz played at Arsenal
Sure, but those different positions were lone striker, second striker, striker with a second striker, shadow striker, false 9, advanced 10, and general forward.

I'm being a bit glib, but he was asked to do a lot more defensive work in the midfield at Arsenal, especially in the first half of the season.

And might I add - he excelled with the defensive work in the midfield role. He just wasn't getting on the scoresheet as much in that role.

Havertz had more league G+A this season than the last 2 combined at Chelsea.

Arsenal need a clinical finisher. Havertz and Jesus are both too inconsistent to rely on. Though Havertz did score 8 in 11 matches once moved to CF almost full time in late February according to the transfermarkt Kai Havertz - Stats 23/24 They don't need the striker to score near that pace over a full season but 15-20 out of whoever starts would be fantastic. Jesus had 11 in 22/23 and Aubameyang and Lacazette combined for 8 the season before. You're not going to win the league with your starting striker scoring 10 goals.

From all my records, Bologna got the CL spot and why I would think it would be hard to poach him. For sure Sporting also made the CL since they won Portugal's Liga Title. Portuguese teams also are very shrewd businesses being able to make tons of money from unexpecting wealthy clubs, however, most of these are for high-potential players that have a crazy amount of hype. I am thinking of the likes of Felix (127 million), Enzo (121), Nunez (85), Dias (71), Goncalo (65), Bruno (65), and Ugarte (60) to name a few. Gyokeres isn't similar to these lot, he will still get a good transfer fee, but he is also a lot older and has bounced around many leagues including the EPL (Brighton who he never played a game for) with not a lot of talk about him. I think that lack of talk will keep his transfer fee down, while Zirkzee will be given "Hojlund" treatment I reckon from Bologna where they have no reason to sell him, except at an enormous fee.

As I noted though, there are contract factors. I would have thought Sesko goes for more than rumored, but as I think someone noted he has a buyout clause.

What Gyokeres has in common with your list is that he’s the premier player in the Portuguese league last season. Other good players there, but his season was the best. And he’s only 2 years older than Fernandes was for example. As for bouncing around leagues, as I said in my last post, they all are unproven to a degree. Specifically regarding Gyokeres though, I think there’s a clear progression there and he’s not less proven.

Sporting have no reason to sell Gyokeres though. They have plenty of other assets they could cash in on if they wanted to hold on to him.

Fixating on league contributions and ignoring domestic cup/CL is an attempt at argument winning thing i dont care about

If you want to go that route, sure. Can’t debate the statistic. I presented all comps. Whatever.

[Mike Verweij] FC Metz have activated their €13M buy-option for Georges Mikautadze. Club still has to reach agreement with the player

I'm gunna be so bummed when Gruda gets poached this summer to come off Dortmund/Bayern's bench instead of combining with Burkardt & Weiper to make Mainz a fun team to watch.

He really popped for me in the handful of minutes he got late last season, after helping lead Mainz's U19 team to a title, and has been ascending fast ever since.

Can we be objective on the Havertz thing

He put up 14/5 in all comps in 21-22. It was a bad 22-23. He went up to 14-7 this year. I don’t think he looked entirely different. He’s still good/bad/average at the same traits.

Better coach with a clear identity.

If he starts going up to 30+ in all comps, obviously that’s a significant level up

Some arsenal fans have definitely taken my post about his most productive domestic season a lot further than I meant it. But All Comps #s with Kai can be tricky because of how much he's struggled to produce in the CL...for whatever reason, level of competition / usage / fitness / luck. We're talking:

7 goals + 2 assists in 49 CL matches;
7 goals + 5 assists in 11 EL matches;
3 goals + 1 assist in 13 DFB Pokal matches;
6 goals + 2 assists in 17 EFL+FA Cup matches

So his All comps #s are impacted massively by what competitions he's in, which makes it hard to compare his best Leverkusen seasons...when he got those 11 EL matches on his CV...to any of his London seasons. And somewhat warps the perception of his overall form.

Scorer every 190 minutes in 17/18; BuLi + DFB
Scorer every 130 minutes in 18/19; BuLi + DFB + EL
Scorer every 141 minutes in 19/20; BuLi + DFB + CL + EL
Scorer every 168 minutes in 20/21; EPL + EFL + FA + CL
Scorer every 171 minutes in 21/22; EPL + EFL + FA + CL + Super Cup + Club WC
Scorer every 325 minutes in 22/23; EPL + EFL + FA + CL
Scorer every 182 minutes in 23/24; EPL + EFL + FA + CL + Community Shield

They could use club-grown players. They're in a fine situation regarding homegrown players.

But I don't want Edwards. He doesn't move the needle. Just a minor depth piece. Would rather see somebody from the U21's play.

If they are to sign a club-grown player, Walker-Peters is the best option. But that might be difficult considering Southampton's promotion.

Looks like Bruno to West Ham isn’t happening because he’s demanding £100k/week lol. I don’t know what he’s making now, but that’s a wild demand as a 28-year-old never having played outside Brazil. Anyway, probably saving the club from themselves here - they can do better with that money.

Edwards would be an ok option off the bench, but if it means we don't sign a better winger it's an issue...My dream is Eze. Eze and Edwards would be good, especially if you think Gil is going out.

Real are about to go on a Bayernesque run in Liga.
We should be the favorites most often than not, but Atleti and Barca cannot be underestimated. Even when they suck, Barca end up winning La Liga sometimes.

As @Tony Romo said, I'd like us to perform better in Copa. Winning La Liga twice in a row would be a nice start.

I do not expect utter domination.

Maybe not ten but I think they're going to have a stronghold on it for a good while

They'll be the favourite but I dont see them winning 4 or 5 in a row.

I guess we can look forward to more years of 'The refs are against Barca wahhhh' from you. Enough tears from a grown ass man to flood the state of Wisconsin.

Enjoy the losses for your pig club.
Damn that escalated quickly
MY friend, I'd settle for one simple Copa Del Rey.
Funny, Id settle Lana del Rey.

And his xG and xA per 90 at Arsenal were in line with what he did at Chelsea. If we take 22/23 out, he's basically performed as expected, but is someone that didn't take that next step in his progression from Germany and leaves you wanting more.
