Some good insight from Kevyn Adams on the CM/Byram deal.

Avs and Buffalo had a deal in place for a while but it was dependant on the Avs finding a D replacement for Byram first

I knew it. It was so evident the wait was for a Byram's replacement.

Hertl is a far superior player to Mittelstadt for the next few years, which is the only years that really matter. Wish CMac had the balls to pull off this trade.

To be honest, was there anything on the market (outside of making a ridiculous offer to Nashville/Calgary) that would radically improve us in that position?

I guess we could've grabbed Allen.

Hertl is far more proven.. he's very good defensively and has been a 30g-35a guy before. Is he better than Mitts today? That's more questionable. Mitts may still have a half step to take and is on the upswing. Hertl is certainly on the downswing.

Great job Cmac. I could bicker over a few small wishes but overall it’s been one hell of a deadline. Avs are better and deeper.

I would agree with this. I think outside 2C this was the biggest hole on the roster. We don't know all the variables here, but it's a big miss.

The backups get starts more often than not as well.

CMac really had a very good TDL.....Vegas just bombed it at the end.... But the Avs, as we stand now, can do it again.....

I can't imagine he'd nix a deal to LA or Colorado where he'd be in a similar position, if not better, than he is now. I'm guessing it was somewhere, where the team wasn't good, or it was to Canada.
