Has there actually been any top 6F/3D Russian that refused to come over ? I think no. The only guys who bolt or do not come over are the ones that arent that good and will have o play in the AHL or the 4th line, so they prefer to stay. Top Russians always come over. So to me the only Russian issues are viewing, and thats recent..

The problem is forwards like Kuznetsov and Kaprizov who took four and six years respectively to come over after signing multiple KHL contracts despite their NHL teams openly stating that they would like them to sign and come over to NA.

The Michkov debacle has worked out for Philadelphia but that was after accepting that it would be a 3 year wait and there was still uncertainty and a lack of transparency that only happens with Russian prospects. Sure, they always come over but when they come over and the lack of developmental input that NHL teams potentially may face are the real issues and justifiably so.

The front office did not liked his attitude, defensive commitment, disrespect for hockey system and peripherical play.

They think its the total opposite with Demidov.

The only top pair RD in this draft is believed to go 2nd and Hawks are adamant they are keeping the pick. If they dont pick Levshunov, he don't makes it past 3. They will also pass on Demidov and Lindstrom for him. Another russian phenom and a 6ft3 physical C who paced for 58 goals.

What does that tells us about those top pair RD?

Marner is in trade rumors. The name we hear is that Vegas need to accept to part ways with Shea Theodore. (Shayna)

What does that tells us about the value of small winger 100 points scorer versus top pair defenseman who is not even cutting it as a bonafide 1D.

Demidov is my choice. I crave him. But he is overrated and we overrate those winger a boatload.

As a Habs fan you should know that's it's not easy to get a center unless you draft one. Wingers are much easier to acquire.

Levshunov... Physical, agressive top pair RD with edge in his game. 1D potential.

Lindstrom... physical top six C, oversized with good finesse skills who paced for 58 goals...

We may not get Demidov but man, we are for sure getting a stellar prospect.

The guy on your avatar has yet to score 40 points in a season. Yet he's the most important non-draft acquisition we made in this rebuild.

We're literally drinking copium kool-aid if you genuinely think what these guys are doing it out of the ordinary. There's no path in which we become a top-tier team with a core that consists of the guys we currently have in the organization.

I didn’t say that, what I’m saying is that after 2 years statements about the rebuild going fantastic, ok or being a failure are premature.

You can’t both dismiss the young player progression AND the current state of the rebuild. We’re not gonna miss the playoffs on purpose 2 more years to get a chance to draft McKenna.

Wait & see isn’t copium, it’s being cool headed.
