He’s right in the sense that he’s Arpon and he just says things to cover all bases.

Saying Lindstrom can go 3 or can go 12 is the perfect example of not saying anything of substance. I will also make the claim that Lindstrom get drafted between 3-12. Yeah, we know.

It has substance since nobody is expecting Lindstrom to go that high or that low

yeah I'm a Devils fan, I just also enjoy following the Hab's a bit.

And this time people can't say that I'm "just wanting the Habs to pick someone bad so the Devils can get the better player".

Any choice the Hab's make won't really affect the Devil's pick at 10th. Any supposed "Whiff" the Habs make will have been taken advantage of way before it's the Devils turn.

Back to the topic at hand..

If Celebrini and Helenius are the 1st and 2nd best pure centers in the draft who do you think comes next? Boisvert? Hage? someone else?
Probably Boisvert, Hage and Luchanko?

Ducks fans think they are going D.

That would not be schocking at all, especially since Drysdale is now in PHI. My prediction for them would be Buium. I would like for anybody before the Habs to take Lindstrom Silayev and Levshunov because that s the three highly ranked players I would prefer the Habs not to take ;) (not that they are bad but I am higher on Buium Dickinson Demidov)

I've seen some comparisons between Sennecke and Scheifele. Is Sennecke being projected as a center eventhough he primarily played RW in Oshawa?

I’m starting to not really mind if we end up with either Silayev or Yakemchuk. If these are the bpa and Hughes picks one of them, then I am fine. Eatherway, one of those two would give us on of the best D in a few years, and make us very hard to play against. Some ppl seem to think Silayev could be the #1 pick if Russia had played internationally. Seems like a chara like precense, with great skating.

I think going BPA is the right philosophy. That being said personally (just my opinion) I don t see either of them as being as good as Buium Dickinson for example. The decision making and transition game of Silayev and Yakemchuk skating and defense should hurt their ranking

I think a lot of it has to do with the 2nd half surge in their draft stock. Scheifele was lower ranked than Sennecke at the beginning of his draft season and went #7 overall. In a re-draft, he'd go higher.

He has also been compared to Spezza largely because of his puck skills, height, creativity and lengthy stride. I still don't see Sennecke moving to center despite these comparisons. He'll be an asset on the wing.

I'd be suprised if Silayev gets by Anaheim and Verbeek. Verbeek was in Detroit when they picked another rangy European dman in Seider with raw but massive upside.

Silayev's pretty darn good with the puck. He makes a good outlet pass and got some PP time. Don't make assumptions based on his KHL points as a 17 year old.
I don t I have seen many highlights and analysis, I just don t see him as a very good puck mover (yet?) I am very impressed by the fact he has been playing in the KHL but it s just those aspects with the puck that makes me think he should be below Dickinson Buium but again it is a question of taste.

Neither Anaheim or Columbus have a need for a pure offensive or puck moving defenseman. They want their big, rangy, all situation defenseman.

Silayev Levshunov and Dickinson are the names on defense that can go high, maybe even Yakemchuk as hes got the size and offense. I expect Buiuim and Parekh to be the last 2 of that group to go mainly because of what those teams need on defense.

Anyone know why PHI is receiving a compensatory pick at #51? Source = Tankathon

So they reach for a C in 2018 and get a 2nd chance? Where’s our mulligan…

They offered him a contract and he didn't sign because he was going NCAA. Then they never signed him. If a 1st round pick doesn't sign a contract, you get the same placement pick in 2nd round.

He was 18th OA, so they get the 18th pick in 2nd round.

Montreal got one for David Fischer. Minnesota for Filip Johansson.

It happens so rarely that a 1st round pick doesn't sign, it's not really an issue.

Jay O'Brien not signing (former 2018 18th oa).
That's pretty sweet for PHI - most teams get nothing when a prospect busts. I understand they had to offer a contract and have O'Brien turn them down in order to get the compensation.

Same thing happened to Montreal with David Fischer back in 2010 when the Habs were awarded a compensatory draft pick (exactly 30 picks down from the original selection)
edit - just realized MarkovsKnee said the same thing while I was typing and researching

Waiting for someone here to say we should take a bad NCAA player at 5 so we get a free 2nd round pick in 2030

The Rangers tried to get one after Alexei Cherepanov passed away unexpectedly. I don’t remember if they succeeded.
