My bold prediction is that Demidov will be a 40-50 goals scorer in the NHL. His shot release is insane at only 18 years old. Our PP will be as deadly as Tampa with him IMO, with Hage possibly also with a great shot

Yes, Demidov and Hage looks very special out there. They will transform the forward group. Even if Dach and Laine don't stay healthy, management have great hope for Demidov and Hage. Hage have literally top 6 C potential and can be a very good one. The future is very bright with both in the system.

I'm not worried about Demidov whatsoever like not even an ounce of worry . Rotenberg is creating a monster , I feel bad for our prospects at next years training camp

yeah I'm not incredibly worried about Demidov learning how to squeeze every bit of value out of each second of TOI.

Like I said here before, HuGo were well aware that they would not be able to control his development this year . . . but they still drafted him at 5OA. They obviously were willing to live with that, especially after their monumental screw-up last year at 5OA.

If his team (SKA) doesn't make the playoffs, or gets eliminated early, is there any chance we see him in a Habs jersey at the tail end of the year? KHL season is over around March 20.

It's a waste of time as there is no way SKA misses the playoffs. In the last 2 years no team has more wins then SKA (80) and this year only 2 teams have won more games.

If they get bounced early then his season is over and he can do whatever he wants.

If his season is over I would assume he would be free to move on...

All expiring KHL contracts terminate on 30 May.

that's supposed to be for players that weren't signed before this season since Demidov was signed under the old agreement where they ended in April. Or did they fix that cause I never heard what the plan was after they announced the season would go longer.

All contracts were extended to 31 May, otherwise most players’ contracts would end before the playoffs are finished.

In exchange the league put restrictions on how early training camps are allowed to start.

I wonder how the meeting went with the Habs and SKA (before the season)? Yeah, Habs don't have control over it but hopefully Demidov gets higher usage because that is a shame

Yeah, so we were right. Rotten-berg doesn't care about winning games - he's butthurt. It must have stung him hard when Demidov won rookie of the week and was leading his team while refusing all those cheap contracts. Had to bring him down a few notches to punish him.

And some of you felt bad for voicing our opinions lol. F this guy.

According to sources in Russia near the situation, Demidov refused a 1 year up to $1M contract extension three times last month which is the reason why he’s being glued to the bench.

This is so obvious.
They gave him enough ice time to where he became the clear cut Rookie of the Year candidate.
They then dangled the carrot and tempted him with KHL fame and riches.

The problem for them is the Kid knows what is going on and his dream is set in stone.
He's already been exposed to how a first class operation goes about it's business.
SKA have about as much chance of keeping him as the Adversary in the "Temptation of Christ" had in his endeavors.

SKA managers can't be that dumb? They are not going to be able to compete with NHL salaries.

Reducing his ice time only makes him to want this one year to be over faster. If I was them, I'd play him a lot and ensure he was happy and productive. Then try to extend him for 1 or 2 years when times are good. Seems to be a bad strategy they try over and over again when they don't have the leverage.

If they offered Demidov $5M AAV for 1 or 2 years, that might make him think more. Then he gets to sign a ELC in the NHL that is 1 or 2 years right? Faster track to big money
