They let Michkov go with 2 years left on a valid KHL contract.
That’s another story. Why did St-Petersburg sent him to Sotchi for two seasons ? Why have they tear his valid contract ? For human reasons ? Since when Russians care about that ? Philly have found a way to pay for him… Bitcoins ???

All I'm saying is they didn't have to do anything shady to keep Michkov in Russia, they legally had him for 2 more years and he left early. I don't think there's anything they can do for Demidov to stay and if Philly could do something underhanded we could too

Stop it with the ridiculous tribal dehumanizing. By doing that, you're just showing you're just as bad as how you try to paint them.

The average Russian is just as normal and human as Westerners. Empathy and prosociality are universals, just as much as violence and competition, or evenmore so.

Demidov +16, for 2nd best in league. Has 4.54 points P/60. For best in league. Defensively he is good also. On ice for 1.71 goals against P/60. Team average is 2.72 P/60. So he is better defensively than rest of team.
No, he's being sheltered and used as exploitation, which is normal for a talented rookie, and the +16 shows he's doing great in that role, but not that he's the best defensive forward. His stats are great and bode well for the future, but doesn't change the fact those stats scream exploitation time.

I actually am convinced it was for 'human reasons' actually. They could've jerked him around because they didn't want to keep him with SKA (Rotenberg doesn't rate him, he prefers bigger players) but they let him try to make the Flyers roster because there was no upside to keeping him to his KHL contract.

Oliver Kapanen's parent club in Finland did the same thing btw.

Not sure why you think Russian people are incapable of doing favours or being normal people with normal people feelings. Will you be so cruel and racist toward Demidov?

I have met many Russians in my travels, I never met one that I did not like. They are good people overall.

Demidov would have to be one helluva an actor and a 5D chess guy for him to want to stay in Russia. He looked so stoked being drafted by us. If that was all performance as leverage for Russian contract negotiations, I’d be beyond shocked.

He’s coming over asap

Don’t call me racist, please. (by the way, Russian is not a race) . You don’t know me. And I certainly doesn’t want to know you. Many of my favourite players are Russians.

I was talking about holigarchs, sports authorities, and their political leaders, and hackers. I would never put all the Russian people in the same bag.

I should had been more precise. Oligarchs, sports authorities, their political leaders, and the hackers working for them. I was not pointing at the regular citizens.

No team, albeit NHL or KHL is gonna allow a valued asset like Michkov or Demidov leave for another league "just to be nice". High level pro hockey is a cut-throat industry.

Michkov almost certainly bought-out his own contract, which requires a 1 and 1/2 year prior notice.
So Rotenberg knew well in advance Michkov wasn't gonna honor his deal and, POd, wanted nothing to do with him. But Roten still had to develop Michkov and Michkov was still an asset to the league so he was conveniently sent to Sochi who is also funded by Gazprom.
On the other side of the world the Flyers just 'fronted' Michkov the termination fee when the time was right.

But none of this relates to Demidov as he didn't buy out his KHL deal.

The KHL wishes their players could be valued as assets but they are not. The NHL poaches them at will.

So his contract wasn’t the big red flag every genius said it was?

Or he had no use for him so he loaned him to another team — as is common in Europe.

The NHL has not poached a single KHL player since the NHL was put on notice the KHL can reciprocate (see the Radulov situation like 15 years ago).

You're not gonna find a citation for anything concrete regarding Michkov's transfer, especially because the Flyers went under the table and SKA kept it all quiet. I'm merely stating the most likely scenario based on Rotenberg's actions and a timeline that fits.

No Idea. Who knows what NHL GM's think? Most of them are stupid as shit regarding anything Russian related.

Or he had no use for him so he loaned him to another team — as is common in Europe.

The irony is Rotenberg had a use for Michkov on the national team over a lot of SKA guys. Keep in mind the NT isn't Rotenberg's personal fiefdom like SKA is. He can't screw around and lose on the NT.
From interviews you get a vibe that Rotenberg and Michkov personally hated eachother.

The NHL takes players from the KHL all the time. We're referring to prospects here.

Yup, you're all lying and speculating like a bunch of gossips.

You're bullshitting and lying, as hockey fans are prone to do, so I hope it's not taken personally whenever it is called out.

Personal animosity between the player and manager actually explains things in a more simple and relatable manner than conspiratorial bullshit all of you peddle.

So, no citations huh? How strange all of you claim something and then cannot support it with a single bit of evidence. Is this just laziness or mass self-delusion?

If you think Rotenberg (a pompous and spiteful dictator wanna-be) let Michkov out of his contract for 'human reasons', I have a broken 1998 Lada to sell you for $500,000.
The situation has nothing to do with "Russians being incapable of doing favours". This is solely about Rotenberg being a vindictive clown.
How unworldly does one need to be to believe Rotenberg's bullcrap? Seriously, I can't even.....:help:
I'm done.

And, no, the NHL has not poached young Russian players. Stop lying. Everything has been done legally since the Radulov situation. By the book by IIHF standards.

Yeah you’re done. Glad you got your little rant out — hopefully you feel better now. All of you are the same.

What is the compensation for the KHL when their prospects hop over to North America?

Does Demidov look happy? Doesn't seem to matter to Olly Gark.

The memes keep forming themselves.

The expressions say it all... The rich kid "playing" coach has zero respect from the people he "leads".

Embarrassing for him and his family, and likely everyone around him sees the same emptiness.

Sucks for Demidov, he'll be away from that mess soon enough

Kid might even need some therapy once he gets back here for good.

Only a few more months of this -- that's the bright side.
