Is there any way the Habs can rescue this kid?? Buyout the contract, and bring him over??
He has proven he can play with those guys, and yet the coach says no TOI for him..........terrible.

Will this effect his development??

There is no risk to his development here........we knew this season would be a s***show in this Mickey Mouse league but he is practising with talented players and will be ready to go next season. He is much better off going through this then he would be if he was simply dominating scrubs in the MHL and not learning the difference between pro tactics and junior tactics.

I have said this before but most fans treat the accrual of points as the accrual of xp points in a video game and make a linear correlation between points and development......this is a false equivalency and while these numbers can often coincide and be construed as development, they are not necessarily evidence of development.

Eloquent analogy, but the poster's argument was worried about time on ice rather than points. Time on ice is literal experience and I do believe it's hard to develop as a player watching the game from the bench. From that perspective, it would obviously have been best to kidnap Demidov back to Brossard or Laval. Playing in the big show, even with the minutes he now plays in the KHL, would have allowed him to « practise » with even more talented players, as you say.

I'm not sure what Brière sacrificed to the oligarchs of the KHL to get Michkov out of there, and maybe the lamb in question just wasn't on the table for this organisation, but in hindsight, it would have definitely helped.

The hawks are going to regret pulling a ‘Kent Hughes’ and drafting a dman instead of a winger like Demidov for Bedard.

Hughe said they were aiming for Demidov 2024 in 2023 thats why they dint go crazy on Michkov?

It's either the GMs in the NHL are extremely stupid or the whole thing is rigged.

Woof. That was the thing that worried me at the draft. I was convinced we were walking out of there with either Sennecke or Lindstrom. I remember the week before the draft Demidov seemed more plausible, but still not likely. In any event, Lindstrom's back was a giant red flag that a lot of people (Waddell included) seemed to gloss over or not take as seriously as they should. I expected his agent to waive medicals around saying it will have no impact on his career, but with the style he plays I didn't see how that was possible. Sure, take a gamble lower in the draft, but you can't squander a top 5 pick when there are question marks like that. I wouldn't have taken him at 5th regardless how the draft played out. If it went Celebrini, Demidov, Sennecke and Iginla as the top 4, I would have sooner taken a shot on Catton or Helenius before him (though probably would have taken Levchunov before either of them). Physical crash and bang players don't have backs that get better the more they play. I don't care how this post ages; I really hope it doesn't impact his career and we're treated to an all-star, but it was too important a pick to screw up (hello Galchenyuk, Kotkaniemi).

If that's true, he's a fool. The way the cards fell was so unheard of for Demidov to fall to 5. The Ducks taking Sennecke was unreal, NOBODY saw that coming including the kid himself. The Hawks abandoned Bedard by going with a RHD, you gotta keep your star franchise C happy, they failed him. The kid has nobody to play with at all, and he won't next year either.

Not in here, we were all talking about how the insiders were saying Ducks were high on Sennecke and thinking of taking him before the draft if Levshunov was already taken (which he was).

And they said no surgery would be required during the off-season.

I hope he gets well soon.
There is no such thing as a minor back surgery, trust me, I’ve had my hernia removed (they carve out the bone, remove the part of the disc that’s out of place and patch the outside layer of skin up).

Not a big incision but there is swelling, scar tissue deep within the vertebra and your disc is opened. Some people go back fast to working out, others like me have a slow recovery. After, you have to be conscious of your movements and how you work out. It changes things and discs do not “return back to normal”. He’s not handicapped but there will be ups and downs.

it was a pipedream, we got lucky. Imagine doing a 'fingers crossed' draft that Martone slips to us next year lol.

The only thing that makes sense to me is that Demidov tanked his other interviews. I don’t see why it’s so tin foil to think that.

"We knew about Demidov last year... before we made our pick last year we were excited about Demidov, depending on where we ended up in the regular season.. "

Maybe its just rigged and thats why Chi din't go for Demidov
