Love looking back into draft guides from the past. In 2020, there was a lot of talk about the power forward types that were coming out having higher value. Jake Neighbors, Luke Tuch, Sam Colangelo got all sorts of hype. Cuylle was certainly mentioned but not in the same way alot of these other players were brought up.

Rangers staff gets crap all the time on this site for drafting and development. They seem to have gotten that draft right.

The 2020 draft was a nice parting gift from the last group. Laf, Schneider Cuylle and Berard are or will be full time NHL players.

Garand has a chance to be something. Rempe has already beaten the odds and played a few games and looks like he’s probably a spare, but that’s a win for a 6th round pick.

3 top 9 forwards, a top 4 defenseman a back up goalie and an extra forward is a nice haul for a single draft.

It feels like his shot has improved since last year. I don't recall him beating a goalie who saw his shot all the way like last night.

I hope he stays a Ranger for a very long time.

I was very vocal (relatively) about Cuylle's underwhelming second half and playoffs. Not that I thought he was cooked or something, but that said I was projecting him as in competition for 11-12th forward spot when the season started.

He's been a pleasure to watch so far, and I'm definitely feeling I've underestimated his upside. Hopefully he can continue, even if not at this scoring pace, just with the game by game consistency.

Leave that line alone and f***ing PLAY them.

His shot has always been his best tool. Peep the one playoff goal he scored.

When he’s got time and space he’s got a laser. It’s always been about getting open and in a position to use it. That’s still a work in progress but he’s pretty good at finding other ways to score goals.

Kakko is a guy who unfortunately needs specific players to maximize his abilities.
The shit we had at center last year actually were the worst possible centers for him.
I also don’t think he was 100%. He had a knee issue and he was already slow.

Dude is exactly what we want for the playoffs.
Usually his type of game does well in the playoffs but it has not so far for KK. Hopefully this is the year where he can really show his worth in the playoffs. I think that would help his confidence a lot.

Back in September, there was torrential rain that came out of nowhere one Saturday afternoon in the city. It actually was probably the last time it meaningfully rained in the city before today.

I was on a run on the west side highway when the rain came in, so while everyone was taking cover it was basically me trudging through hurricane conditions.

Out of nowhere, I run past Will Cuylle and a friend. They had been playing tennis on the water there and clearly got caught in the storm as well. They were already marveling at the fact that I was still running so they started cheering me on. When I got closer to them I yelled “25 for you this year” and fist bumped Cuylle. Was a very cool moment (he’s absolutely massive in person).

I’m glad he took my message to heart!

I enjoy in person stuff like that. :)

The point production wasn’t there. But aside from last year with Wennberg as his center, his line was always great in the playoffs.

Wennberg certainly did not help but KK has been scratched by 2 different coaches in the playoffs. Point production will go a long way to avoiding that next time around. He just has to play so well that it is not even a question this playoff season. I want to see it. I think he does have it in him.

I cut him some slack since it was his first NHL season last year. He had a short short season during the covid era. I knew he had potential and could be more than a 4th liner. He has underrated skill. He did play some center in juniors. I wonder he will ever get a look at center. Im shocked he is not in the middle when Chytil went down
