Eloquent analogy, but the poster's argument was worried about time on ice rather than points. Time on ice is literal experience and I do believe it's hard to develop as a player watching the game from the bench. From that perspective, it would obviously have been best to kidnap Demidov back to Brossard or Laval. Playing in the big show, even with the minutes he now plays in the KHL, would have allowed him to « practise » with even more talented players, as you say.

I'm not sure what Brière sacrificed to the oligarchs of the KHL to get Michkov out of there, and maybe the lamb in question just wasn't on the table for this organisation, but in hindsight, it would have definitely helped.
Seriously, one of biggest concern with Michkov has not having any control in his development for the next 3 years. I'm pretty sure Michkov would have gone #2-3, if his contract has only one year long.
The league did not investigate the Flyers. They would have done it if it has Ottawa...:laugh::laugh:

It won't have any major impact on Demidov development. He is still healthy and playing 13 mins+. I'm more worry about Reinbacher. Missing the whole year could impact his career. I hope for us, he comeback at 1100% next season.

Did you mean

Wright, instead of Slaf
Michkov, instead of Reinbacher
Iginla, instead of Demidov

Those 3 years players were available at the moment the Habs picked. It wasn't the case for Lindstrom.
Without a little luck another team grabs demi at 2,3,4 and we happily grab the big center

He just needs a little microdisectomy that’s all. A teeny tinsy bit of his bulging disc removed. No biggie. Maybe he’ll even get to play in 2025.

He's "expected" to play this season.

With it not being definitive that causes the worry.

I hope he's fine and becomes a beast, retires his mom and is a bright spot for Columbus after all the bad things that have happened, but the way things are being worded it isn't inspiring hope.

Lindstrom will be injury prone throughout his career guaranteed. Columbus can say anything they want to not look bad. Fact is, a surgery is still a surgery in that fragile region of the body... minor or major. Like someone said earlier, he will have ups and downs. The kid is cooked.

Of course I would prefer that he was in Laval learning the NA game but he is still better off where he is than he would be in the MHL where he has nothing to learn from kids who don't know how to defend him.

I agree that Rotenberg is a clown and the KHL is a corrupt and poorly run league but the worst thing for Demidov would be learning nothing and dominating a weak junior league as opposed to learning from the best players in Russia both in game and during practice.

It is just a single year and he will be much better prepared to come to NA after playing with SKA than if he had stayed in the MHL.

Call me pessimistic…. But the war going on over there has all the potential to get worse….

That has been a variable that has yet to impact player movement to any significant degree. It is certainly something to be aware of but at the same time it is a variable that is not quantifiable and needn't be any where near the forefront on the discussion until there are developments that warrant an elevation of these concerns.

The kid is so far from being cooked. What the hell are you talking about?

Look what happened to Eric Daze, same thing really

The potential to get worse , sure.

With that said if it gets the point that impacts Demidov there is a real likelihood it’s because it’s turned into WW3 and frankly at that point we have bigger concerns than whether or not Demidov is coming to Montreal.

The reality is that the incoming US administration is adamant on ending the war ASAP and it’s the current lame duck administration that is escalating tensions. Russia and Putin are cognizant of this and will limit retaliations in hope of negotiations in the new year.

Yep and to Lemieux.

Full healthy until 23 years old with 199 points in 76 games. In 88-89

His last season healthy..then he missed a year with his back surgery and he had this problem for all his career ..

..but this martian manage to put incredible numbers nonetheless in the 90s

Excellent shift from Demidov, loved the way he used his skating and body positioning along the boards to keep possession on the right half wall while creating time and space for his teammates; almost resulted in a goal for the activating defenseman down the middle.
